With the 12th Pick in the 2009 MCM Mock Draft....

....the Denver Broncos (represented by BBB) select....

Rey Maualuga, LB, USC

With Denver going through pretty much a total makeover they have plenty of needs. The defensive side of the ball is going through the biggest change as they are switching to a 3-4... They lost a  MLB already to free agency in Nate Webster... It looks as though Jarvis Moss and and Dumervil will be standing up and taking over the OLB positions.

I would imagine if they feel Tyson Jackson and Raji will both be off the board they will be making a trade to move up and fill their biggest needs being a 3-4 DE or DT... There isn't a player available at this spot in the draft that fits the value of the pick at those positions.  Tim Crowder will most likely be holding down one of the DE positions as he is more suited for this defense anyway, he has shown virtually nothing to this point, but he definitely has talent and it will show this coming season.

OLB Wesley Woodyard as a rookie last season showed a lot of promise in the base 4-3 as a sideline to sideline tackler.  Who knows how he will fit in this defense, he is way too small to fill the other MLB spot next to D.J. Williams.

Another option here value-wise was Malcolm Jenkins, but I feel he will be better suited to play FS in the NFL, and that position has already been filled by Dawkins... Before free agency started I was sure this would be the year they went with a RB. Moreno would've fit nicely here, but they filled that need or at least they feel they have with J.J. Arrington and Correll Buckhalter...

Who knows, maybe the way things are headed they will be picking one of the top 3 QB prospects...

The Washington Redskins are now on the clock..
