Getting to 53

The Titans have to trim the roster down to 53 by 5 p.m. today.  There haven't been any official announcements yet, but The Tennessean has compiled a list of some of the guys that will be cut.  They include 3 picks from this years draft, Ryan Smith, Joel Filani and Mike Otto, as well as tight ends Cooper Wallace and Jamie Petrowski, running backs Dontrell Moore and Quinton Ganther, defensive ends Josh Savage and Jason Hall, guard Issac Snell, tackle Seth Wand and linebacker Terna Nande.  None of those are surprises.  That means there are 10 more guys the Titans will have to let go.  The official announcement won't come until deadline time for "competitive reasons" according to Jeff Fisher.

In other news, LenDale White has been named the starting running back.  I don't think anyone is surprised by this.  Fisher did say that there will be plenty of carries for Chris Brown as well.  We have seen how successful that combination can be this preseason.  I feel pretty good about the running game.

Enjoy the first full day of college football.  I will be attending the Vandy game tonight, but will be keeping an eye on plenty of games around the country.  I will also try and get an update on the Titans' cuts as soon as it is available.  If you here anything post it in the comments or a diary.  We will have some discussion over the next couple of days about guys the Titans will have their eyes on.
