Paul Kuharsky Hits the Nail on the Head

The Tennessean really should give Kuharsky a regular column.  He hit it out of the park with yesterday's column.  Before I go into this I want to make it perfectly clear that I am a HUGE Jeff Fisher fan.  I think he one of the best coaches in the league, and he is the right guy to lead this team.  That is why it scares me that he still hasn't signed an extension.

That being said, the fact that he tends to go with veterans because they have somehow earned it is a huge chink in his armor.  If the Titans do believe that in week 1 Lowry will be the starter, there is absolutely no reason for Lamont to be getting any snaps with the first team unit.  Lowry needs to be able to learn the position now so he is ready to go when it matters.  There is no reason to worry about hurting Lamont's feelings or pride.  Winning football games is all that matters.

As Kuharsky points out, Fisher did the same thing last year with Vince Young.  I think all of us would agree that if Vince had started week 1 last year the Titans would have won either 9 or 10 games.  Fisher didn't want to hand it over to Vince because he was a rookie, so instead he gave it to Father Time who had been with the team for 5 minutes.

What does everyone else think?  Are you with Kuharsky, or do you think Fisher does it the right way?  (Thanks to Zack for the heads up on the aricle)
