It isn't official yet but the Titans will name Mike Reinfeldt the next GM. Reinfeldt is currently the vice president of player administration for the Seattle Seawhawks.
Reinfeldt has an MBA in finance and has been the Seahawks salary cap overseer for the past 2 years. I think this proves that Fisher is going to get more power, while Reinfeldt's primary duty will be to oversee contract negotiations as well as the salary cap. Fisher won't have total control and that is a good thing. We have seen many instances in the NFL where a head coach has total control. Most of those instances have not proven successful. Reinfeldt will have a hand in the discussion with Fisher making the ultimate decision. Fisher has earned that right.
It has been assumed from the beginning that Reinfeldt would be the guy because of his ties to the organization. He was a DB for the Oilers from 1977-1983. Bud Adams likes to keep it in the family.
This is a good move for the Titans. They need a guy to make sure the team doesn't go through another salary cap debacle. Reinfeldt has the cap experience necessary to make sure this doesn't happen.
This is a good hire and yet another sign that the Titans organization is moving in the right direction. After a few years full of bad decisions, it is very exciting to see the franchise moving in the right direction.
