The Jets don't do anything all that well on offense. They rank 19th rushing and 24th passing. They will probably try and control the ball tomorrow with the running of Thomas Jones. Jones, who has 963 yards and only 1 TD on the season, has been a bit of a disappointment in his first season with the Jets. They expected him to be a 1,500 yard back. Look for the Jets to run a lot of stuff between the tackles on 1st and 2nd downs to try and stay out of 3rd and long situations. The Titans should be pretty successful shutting down the rushing attack if Albert Haynesworth can play.
All indications are that Chad Pennington will start for the Jets tomorrow. Pennington is a very efficient passer, but he is lacking in the arm strength department. The Jets will probably try and run short timing routes to move the chains. It is supposed to be a windy day in Nashville tomorrow which will hurt Pennington when trying to throw the ball deep.
The Jets do have a solid group of receivers in Lavernaues Coles, Jerricho Cotchery and Brad Smith. Coles has been battling injuries all season long and might not be able to go tomorrow. If he can't go, the Titans will see more of a familiar face in Justin McCareins. The Titans secondary should match-up pretty well against this group.
The Jets offensive line has struggled all season long, so the Titans front four should be able to put pressure on Pennington. The Jets will counter that with a lot of short timing routes, as mentioned above.
Titans Notes
Kevin Mawae and Albert Haynesworth both missed practice yesterday and will be game time decisions. LenDale White, Keith Bulluck, David Thornton and Benji Olson all practiced yesterday and should play.
