Denver Broncos 34 Tennessee Titans 20 Offensive Recap

Brandon Jones celebrates the one good play he has ever made.

I did not see the Brandon Jones's celebration after his touchdown catch until ESPN replayed it at halftime. It made me sick. How about you just run to the sideline Brandon, instead of celebrating the fact that you catch 1 out of every 5 passes that hit you in the hands. The Titans need desperately need help at receiver, and they are going to have to spend money to get it. The problem has to be addressed early in this year's draft or in free agency. The problem cannot be addressed with a 3rd round pick that can't even be active on the day of the game, a 5th round pick that cannot hold onto the ball, a 7th round that is now on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad, and a free agent receiver that couldn't separate from Lamont Thompson. The Titans better not be counting on David Givens to come back either. If it is taking him this long to get back from the injury, the odds are pretty good that he will not be the same player when he returns.

Vince Young played well last night. He was 26 of 41 for 305 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs. He would have had about 400 yards and at least 2 TDs if he had a receiver, besides Justin Gage, who could catch the ball. Vince also ran 11 times for 74 yards and a TD. He picked up 3 first downs on 3rd down with his legs. He looked a lot like the Vince Young that carried this team last season. His play is the only positive to take from this game.

The rushing game, outside of Vince, was terrible last night. I have said it before, but LenDale White really needs to lose 15 pounds to be an effective NFL runner. He just doesn't hit the holes quick enough. It was pretty obvious last night when you see the burst difference between him and Chris Brown/Chris Henry. Speaking of Chris Brown, he had a solid effort last night when he wasn't on the sideline with a tummy ache. He had 3 carries for 14 yards and 4 catches for 61 yards. Maybe the Titans should line him up at receiver.

I don't know why the booth didn't take a look at the pass to Bo Scaife at the end of the first half. I am not sure that there was an angle that they could have overturned the call on the field, but they owe it to the Titans to at least take a look at it.

I thought the play calling was pretty good last night. I was a little down on Norm Chow's play calling after last week's game, but last night it was all about the lack of execution. If the receivers could catch it would have been a completely different game.
