....the Oakland Raiders represented by DannoE select....

Vernon Gholston, defensive end, Ohio State.

They make this pick because he's easily the best available defensive layer left on the board, and they need some serious help on defense. With that said, in this spot I think Al Davis might choose a receiver. But since this is MY pick, I'm picking a guy who's likely to actually HIT in this draft.

I like the pick.

In reality, though, I think Al Davis is too in love with Darren McFadden to pass him up...

That would make sense.

And it could happen. But I think Davis will do something that makes NO sense, and that to me is gamble on a receiver when better, more likely to hit players are available.

BTW, for those still watching Mocking the Draft

You NEVER draft a right tackle in the first round. No one does. Draft LEFT tackles and move the busts to the other side.

However, the 49er's apparently never got the memo. But they still got an "A-".

Argh.

well

i like him alot too but e is definitely 3-4 DE/OLB and really wouldn't fit our scheme. It could work we just wouldn't get everything he brings to game in our defense.

More like Ghost-on

Gholston is built to be the next "Freak" but looking at his stats last season he had like 4 good games and the rest he had little or no stats. I look more at what someone has done on the field and less at Combine/Pro Day stats. I could be totally wrong but I personally don't think he is as good as shown. I highly doubt that the Raiders will take McFadden but who knows when it comes to Al Davis he may think a five RB system is a thing of the future. I think if Dorsey or Ellis are still available they should be taken because they not only need someone to replace Warren Sapp but to play better then Sapp.
