BREAKING NEWS: Brett Favre Retires

I must say that I am shocked by this news.  Chris Mortensen is reporting that Brett Favre has decided to retire after 17 NFL seasons.  The Green Bay Packers seem to be on the upswing.  He came back to some teams, including last year's team, that didn't seem to be nearly as good as what the Packers will be putting on the field in 2008.

I think he may have seen
that some of what happened last year was a one time thing that might not come together.  We will also have to watch to see if something changes.

You know that his backup QB is ready to get his start.

I'm surprised too. Very surprised.
But I agree with VY that the Packers probably won't miss a beat under Aaron Rogers.  Rogers has played very well every time he's gotten a chance.

I'll miss him.
Well, not just me, the game will miss him.

I love some of the quotes other SBNation bloggers are making.

BBS: If true, the 2008 season just got a little less interesting.

Windy City Gridiron: The sad thing is, this may be the best move for the Bears this offseason.

Brett Favre signs Vicodin deal...great...
At long last this washed up loser has taken to the retirement track...and as usual, he ends up on top.  He just signed a pharmaceutical contract worth more than his Green Bay contract last year...unbelievable:

waaaaaaaaaaa...
slow down before you choke on all that Haterade.

We're all tired of the media fluff jobs hacks like Peter King and Joe Buck give Favre, but they guy was great from the game, great at his position and deserves some respect if he's done.

**Also, genius, socoolaz.com is a satire and comedy site: it's a joke bro.

DEAR M. REINFELDT: PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD DRAFT EARL BENNETT!!!

Farve to the titans?
I think we should make him an offer to come out of retirement and play as or slot receiver for this season

Favre retiring gets us D.J.Hackett I could care less.

100%
I couldn't agree with you more.

I have nothing against Farve, but the past few seasons he has been way overrated.

I'm sorry
if I offended you, that was not my intention. I'm not complaining that you put it up there. Your doing a good job keeping us updated on the news.

I'm just much more concerned with our team and the moves we need to make, and voicing my opinion about how much I don't care about Favre. I'm sure there are plenty of people here interested in Favre. I've just never been crazy about the guy, or the fact he turns every off-season into his own personal soap opera.

And why do you say "Again"?

And while we are having some dialogue, maybe you can answer some of the questions I had yesterday.

Do you know anything, or have any updated news on Jacob Ford?

How bout Antonio Johnson?

I'm sure you hear a lot more being from the area than I do. I'd really appreciate any info.

You do a great job running this site.  Please do not take my complete boredom with the year after year Brett Favre saga personal.

Hackett
Based on everything I've read, I'm pretty sure we're going to be getting DJ. His agent talks about the Titans like they're clearly his first choice.

I'll miss him.
I saw the news: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,334811,00.html , When I saw it, I am really surprised and sad. Brett has given us 17 years of awesome football. One of his fans's book tells it: http://dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=88465&ru=279 , Now I think he can have time for his family. May he have as much happiness in his future as he has given us. God Bless Brett and his family. Thank You Brett!!!
