Tennessee Titans to Officially Sign Alge Crumpler

Alge Crumpler is supposed to be on his way to Nashville to sign a contract today.  I expect the official announcement to come from the club later this afternoon.  The deal is apparently 2 years worth about $5 million with a $1 million signing bonus.

I think that is a great deal for the Titans.  It is a deal that won't kill them even if Crumpler turns out to not be as healthy as they think he is.  If he is as healthy as they think he is, he is going to be the #1 target for Vince Young who desperately needs some weapons around him.  This is a low risk high reward deal in my mind.  This is the best move Reinfeldt and company have made since he has been here.

You can say that again
This is the best move Reinfeldt and company have made since he has been here... Of all the free agents out there CRUMP is the one I wanted most. I thought for sure it was going to take more money to get him but damn!! Great job Front Office!

good to hear
I agree with "This is a low risk high reward deal in my mind"...

Jimmy/others, do you think Warrick Dunn could be that situational back you think we need? Seems like we could get him somewhat cheap and again, low risk, high reward type of acquisition.

Looks like we are out of luck now with a big name free agent WR.  If we can get M. Kelly, we're probably allright.

Looks like getting Rucker from CAR might be all that's left for a DLman.  We can still be allright there i suppose if we can re-sign Odom and/or LaBoy.

We Will Not
Get M. Kelly. At the rate his stock is shooting up, he could be a top ten pick by the time the draft comes around. As far as the Alge deal goes, WOW! I cant believe we got him for that price. It does kinda make me wonder how bad his knee is. But last year was a down year for him, and still his stats would have been huge for us. If nothing else, this is going to help us get the ball in the endzone, which we all know was probably our biggest issue last year. I'm so pumped about this signing especially for that tiny price tag.

I'm kind of split on Dunn.
The thing he definitely brings you is good protection in the backfield.  That's a good thing.  But I can't see how's there's much that Dunn can do that LenDale White can't so, and the Titans already have White.  Plus, White does pretty well with protection.  I'd rather see the team go after someone who's undersized but shifty in the later rounds of the draft.

Um...
I thought W.Dunn fell into the category of undersized and shifty. Good screen/3rd down back/change of pace back.

I'm all for him at the right price.

Eh... What do I know?
This just goes to show that no one should listen to me.

Hey
thats just my opinion. I just always looked at him as that type of back.

Javon Walker
is still out there too isnt he?

On Walker...
I'll trust management's call on that one, no matter what we've seen from him.  'Dinger was his coach the last 2 years in Denver, so he knows WAY better than we do what kind of guy he is and if he can really help this team.

Walker
I hadn't though of the Dinger-Walker connection.  You've got to love having some extra insight on a guy that has some questions marks.

Insight
It is definitely nice to have the insight, but I have to think that if they can get Vince another weapon, of Walker's caliber without paying much because of all the question marks... well it would be nice to get him without the risk of big money.

I agree in princpal
but my point is that Dinger knows Walker's work ethic and he knows his attitude.  Walker as had 2 good very years and 2 years that were complete losses (including one where he pissed off the ENTIRE Packers organization... remember that he didn't get shipped out of Green Bay because of his awesomeness: he got shipped out for being a selfish jerk who demanded a big-time contract after a blow ACL and 1 pro-bowl).

If Dinger feels he knows it's not worth the risk, then I respect that because we're all on the outside looking in as fans.  I'd love 100% healthy and focused Javon: it would make us MUCH better immediately, but I'd rather have a rookie than a whiny asshat.
