Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

Kalimba Edwards and Chris Crocker Visit Tennessee Titans

As jmac mentioned, and BBB was all over us Nashvillians for not mentioning (I guess we are supposed to be monitoring the flight manifests in and out of BNA), former Lions defensive end Kalimba Edwards was in town yesterday to visit with the Titans.  Edwards was a 2nd round draft pick out of South Carolina and has 26 sacks in his 6 NFL seasons.  It seems that he would be the perfect compliment to Jevon Kearse.  A defensive line with KVB, Fat Albert, Tony Brown/someone from the draft, and Kearse/Edwards would be better than last year's line.

The other visitor the Titans had yesterday was former Falcons' safety Chris Crocker.  Crocker was a 3rd round draft pick out of Marshall in 2003.  If the Titans were to add him it would seem to be just a depth/special teams move.

Also, thanks to everyone who has been posting diaries to keep the discussion going. It is always exciting to log on and see a couple of new diaries with interesting things to talk about.

Edwards
would be a great pick-up: Miranelli is remaking the Lions D-line in that "I'm a 2nd year coach and I want my guys so lets cut the other coach's players" kinda way... he can still be very productive and won't cost too much at this point.

We MUST have around quality 8 guys ready to contribute on that D-Line they're going to be the anchor of our D. Albert, Brown, KVB, The Freak, Edwards, Urlich Winkler (joking) and draft pick or two on the 2nd day could get us there!

DEAR M. REINFELDT: PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD DRAFT EARL BENNETT!!!

Edwards
I used to live in michigan and remember watching Edward and being amazed at his potential. With the right scheme and combinations, he can be just as good as Odom. I think that Kearse and Edwards can easily replace if not better the 14 sack void left by Odom and Laboy.

is edwards what we really need?
dont get me wrong, i think he is a fine talent, but he's practically the same player as kearse, as far as style goes.  both are undersized, pure speed ends, who both have a well documented tendency to get too far upfield and leave gaping wholes to run through.
do we really need two of those types?
i guess if one assumes kearse is reliable for less %50 of the snaps (probably a fair estimation) then edwards is in the rest of the time.  but im sure fisher will be planning on kearse coming off on obvious run downs, so that means you would simply be subbing two guys with the exact same problem.

if we can get a good price, i say go for it.  but it does seem a little redundant after the kearse pick-up.

The Titans signed
Dwayne Blakely! There is our 3rd TE. No need to draft 1 now. Crumpler will be awesome despite what someone thinks, Scaife is a good #2 TE, and Blakely will be a good #3 I thought he was pretty good before we cut him. I don't see him as too much of a downgrade if at all from Hartstock.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this already, but if not maybe I should get the key to run this site. JK LOLOLOL
