Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Chris Brown Signs with the Houston Texans

Chris Brown agreed to a 2 year deal with the Houston Texans yesterday.  The deal is for $3.6 million and an $800,000 signing bonus.  The Titans had no interest in signing Brown so the only surprise here is that he found another team so quickly.  Especially when he couldn't find anyone at all last year.  It will be interesting to see if he comes back to haunt the Titans being in the same division, but he will probably be hurt for at least one of the games.

The most interesting thing from the article linked above is that Michael Roos has told the Titans to get a long term deal done with him before this season, or he will walk when he becomes a free agent at the end of 2008.

"It was Michael's idea,'' Foster said. "Michael is a smart guy and he loves Tennessee and wants to stay there. But he also knows how things work and knows it's a business. He doesn't want to deal with any distractions once the season starts.

"He wants to get a deal done now.''

There is nothing more important to this team than locking up Roos long term.  When you have a Pro Bowl caliber left tackle there is no such thing as overpaying.  They should work that deal out yesterday.

If he
is not hurt when he plays the Titans it will just take one good tackle from Albert and he will find a seat on the sidelines.

Roos
I think it is to our advantage in every aspect to take care of this right now. The amount of money he will get when he hits the market will be ridiculous. He knows this! Which really tells me he wants to be here. Take care of it now. And I'm sure the Titans will do the right thing.

I agree we HAVE to lock-up Roos,
but i seriously doubt he's earned the Top 5 money his agent claims he's owed... I hope we can get it done anyways.  We better not end-up letting Roos and Stewart walk in the same year (or ever for my money) like we did Odom and LaBoy.

The problem is
if you go ahead and lock up Roos, big Alby is pretty ticked off he does't have his deal yet.

true that
i can't imagine that next year's cap situation will be any better than this year's. might as well lock up roos (and fat albert) now while we can.

if we aren't gonna find any quality big WR threats
in free agency, might as well spend the money and lock up the two key line players long term.

Roos...
it would be great to lock him up, but i agree that albert comes first.  roos can always have the franchise tag put on next year if need-be.  I am not in favor of this...he is a guy that we HAVE to have....however haynesworth needs to be the first priority when it comes to resigning our own.

One other note=====
farewell and best wishes Chris Brown.  I have always been a big fan of his.  I thought he should of had more carries last year (not a knock on LenDale).  Crucial fumbles and not being able to play hurt is why he is out of town...but I think he has been our best back every year since Eddie left.
