You Are Mike Reinfeldt
This is a fun topic to get some discussion started. Paul Kuharsky wrote down his plan here, but now it is your turn. What steps would you take to get this franchise to the next level? Who would you resign and who would you let walk? Give me your steps, and I will weigh in with mine over the weekend.

My $.02.
Thanks for posting this. I hadn't seen the post on the Tennessean's website.
I'm start this with an assumption: I believe that the Titan's offense will be MUCH better next year under Mike Heimerdinger. I'll give a few reasons for saying that:
- It'll call for more movement outside the pocket from VY, which is good, along with fewer read-options in the passing game, which is also good.
- If Eli Manning can have a breakout season, so can VY. These guys aren't too much alike, except in that both had super-high and seemingly unrealistic expectations out of college, and both have been prone to throw an INT or two. But we all saw that post-season. We should all see that, with time, the light can and will go on. I don't know if VY will "break out" this year, but I do think he'll play significantly better.
- Heimerdinger is a disciplinarian, and this is a young offense. It won't surprise me if he is able to simply scare some of these kids into better performance. Some guys require in-your-face motivation. That's not a bad thing. However, it seemed beyond Chow's ability to provide that spark when it was needed.
- Franchise Big Al but also draft a top-flight DT if it is at all possible. I agree that the team should work hard to get Albert under long-term contract, but it should ALSO be prepared to let him walk at the end of the year if it doesn't work out. He can be dominant, yes, but he also has an injury history that only a fool would ignore. And there are A LOT of fools in the NFL.
- I agree with Kuharsky about Odom and LaBoy. I'll add that if the team can't get something out of B. Fisher next year, that'll be a BAD sign of things to come.
- Depending on who's the best available in rounds 2 and 3, take a WR, RB, or TE (this assumes a DT or DE was taken first). I can see the case for signing a veteran FA RB, but I am not sold on Chris Henry. If a steal of a RB is available when the Titans pick, then they should take that guy. Having a real change-up for LenDale would be worth it IMO, even if it means another sub-par year at WR. With that said, the team could almost certainly stand pat at RB and not have it be a disaster, and there are a lot of needs this year. A RB should be taken only if he has serious value.
- Sign exactly ONE WR. The team already has an over-strength platoon on the roster. Gage is a very good possession receiver. R. Williams is also likely to continued to develop nicely. Keeping Ealy is a no-brainer. He's practically free, and he contributes. The team needs ONE receiving threat that can get down the field and open up the middle. But that's all. Signing another platoon would take away from the emphasis that's needed elsewhere.
- Address TE. I can think of a number of ways to do it, but Scaife and Troupe are both FA's. A considered plan is needed.
- Depth at LB, O-Line, Safety.

My Plan for the Titans
- Franchise Haynesworth and work on an extention during the season.
- Do what ever it takes to get Roy Williams or Larry Fitzgerald or some big, playmaking, pro-bowl worthy, veteran WR.
- Sign another WR like the one in step 2 or draft one.
- Give Troupe ONE MORE CHANCE. Also find a TE in the draft to compete with Troupe in training camp.
- Sign a veteran, savvy RB. I have always loved Warrick Dunn. He's a Kevin Faulk type player. Do you remember that run at the end of the Atlanta game where he juked the whole Titans team and would have scored a TD if were not for Kyle "Energizer Bunny" Vanden Boshe running him down 20 yards past the line of scrimmage? Dunn has always been a playmaker and like LenDale, he always seems to get positive yardage no matter what the circumstances. Thats odd for a man his size, but he does it.
- Chris Davis and Chris Henry are your return men going into training camp. But you can always bring in some unknown quantity to see if you can mine gold.
- Overpay a bit for Odom and LaBoy. I don't like the idea of breaking up the momentum created by our D line this year. Do you remember how we gave the Patriots fits in preseason by getting pressure using only the front 4? Thats one reason I took the Giants in the Superbowl. Don't go into this season with only Vanden Boshe and Haynesworth as holdovers from last season. Please.
- Draft the best players available.

Keys to making Merrill Hoge's head explode...
step 2 - WR. We all know why, and we all have a good idea who the candidates are.
step 3 through ∞ - DRAFT THE MOST TALENTED AND BEST MENTALLY SUITED PLAYER AVAILABLE WITH EVERY PICK, REGARDLESS OF POSITION. It's the only way to sustain success and improve.

My turn...
Now at TE, I think we could use another guy, Via draft (or FA, for the right price)But I think Scafe and Troupe should do better, but I would like to see another guy in there.
And for gosh sakes get an incredible WR, someone great even if you have to caugh up the dough, and prehaps one more for cheap, or draft someone good in the second round (First if we don't get a good FA).
And on to the D'. Franchise Haynesworth or get a deal done. Try to get Odom and Laboy back. (humm...I wonder what Ford can do),and get some Depth. Allen would be nice to have but he probably won't be cheap. And draft another DT (or and DE depending on the situation). I might want to add some depth at Linebacker as well. Everything seems fine. However there is that Pacman question that keeps popping up....
