2008 NFL Combine Wide Receiver 40 Times

Here is a list of some of the wide receivers and what they ran in yesterday's workout at the NFL Combine:

DeSean Jackson 4.35
Limas Sweed 4.46
Mario Manningham 4.59*
James Hardy 4.47
Earl Bennett 4.48
Keenan Burton 4.43
D.J. Hall 4.55
Jordy Nelson 4.49

*Ouch

Malcolm Kelly and Early Doucet did not run.

It looks like these guys, with the exception of Manningham, hit about where we thought they would.  I am really starting to like Hardy, just not at #24.  He might be a guy the Titans could trade down a few spots and pick up.

Hardy
I know I'm a biased IU fan, but James Hardy will be a star in the NFL.  I bet by draft day, teams will be trading up...not down to get him.  He has height, which is something you can't teach.

Does Sneed or Manningham return punts or kicks?

Also, I think the Titans should pick the QB from San Diego if he is available in round 3 or 4.  I know we have a lot of other needs, but this guy seems to be a lot like VY and if Vince gets hurt, it would be great to have a guy that plays the same style as a backup.

Just some thoughts....

Sweed nor Manningham
return kicks.  Hardy doesn't either, does he? I would hope not, especially at 6'5"

My question is...
Why do these dudes at the combine keep calling Doucet "a poor mans Anquan Boldin"? in a good way.  Does anyone else think this? We could use an Boldin! Just didn't see that from him.  I still think M.Kelly is who we should pick.

And Jimmy, u being a Bama fan whats up with D.J. Hall?  I thought watching Senior Bowl practices he looked pretty good.  He looked big, and at least to me he seemed to be running past people on a regular basis. Is he any good? Watching him reminded me of Paul Williams.

I'm sure your
kidding! I think he can be good, if given a chance in the near future.

Hardy....
does not return punts.  he does catch a lot of touchdown's though!

I was definitely kidding
But I don't think we should draft a receiver who reminds us of someone who stays inactive.

But I know what you meant!  Just harrasing you!

Figure you were kidding
When I said he reminds me of P.Williams I was talkin about his size and speed.  I don't know how good Hall's hands or ability to get separation are. Hopefully for D.J. Halls sake he's better than P.Williams.  I just hope Williams was raw and can get on the field this year.  I remember back in the good old days just about every guy we drafted ended up being a starter within a year or so.

DJ Hall seems....
....to know how to play football.  He has decent size at 6-2, 195 and runs good routes.  I think he will be a good pick up for someone in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I just thought
he and Castille looked intriguing cuz of their size. Hall ran by him a few times, and ran past Chevis Jackson more than a few times. Looked like a guy that could do some damage with pads on.

Devin Thomas
was impressive, and so was Eddie Royal from Va.Tech in a lot of categories other than just their 40 times.

Sweed
I wasn't crazy about all the mocks that had us picking him. My concern was his speed, but after seeing his 40 time, I would like to have this guy. If he can get close to Roy Williams production, I think that would be a successful draft pick.

On another note, what would you guys think about us signing Stallworth. We offered him more money last year, but he chose NE instead. (Can't say I blame him for that.) I know he has struggled with injuries, but he was huge for the Eagles a couple of years ago. I think him, Sweed or Hardy (Kelly will be gone by the time we pick), re-sign Gage, and bring Crumpler in. That would be my ideal scenario.
