NFL Combine Open Thread: Sunday

Via Kayne, here are the numbers the tight ends put up yesterday at the NFL Combine:

Fastest 40 times:
Dustin Keller 4.55
Jacob Tamme 4.58
Craig Stevens 4.59
Kellen Davis 4.60
Brad Cottam 4.63

Most Bench Reps:
Craig Stevens 27
Dustin Keller 26
*Fred Davis 24
Brad Cottam 24
Derek Fine 24

Vertical:
Dustin Keller 38.0
Tom Santi 36.0
Martellus Bennett 34.0
Brad Cottam 33.0
Gary Barnidge 31.0

*Fred Davis did not participate in the running or jumping because of an injury.

Today is a big day of workouts for the Titans because it features quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers.  The Titans will be keeping a really close eye on the wide receiver 40 times.  They need a burner to stretch the field.  I will be very interested to see what Earl Bennett does in the 40.  He is probably not the right fit for the Titans, but I think he will be a very good NFL receiver.  His 40 time will make the difference between and early 2nd round pick or a 3rd round pick.

The Titans will also be keeping an eye on the running back times as they search for someone to compliment LenDale White.  I don't see the Titans taking a running back on the 1st day, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them come out of this draft with a back.

As always, leave any interesting or notworthy things in the comments.

Incorrect on fastest time..
Dexter Jackson, a WR from Appalachian State ran a 4.27 40.  That is not too shabby.

Dexter Jackson
His official 40 time was 4.37.  Desean did have the fastest WR time.

RB Chris Johnson of ECU had an official 40 time of 4.24.

McFadden!
4.27 40.  I hope my other team--Falcons--draft him.

Mcfadden

If Henry ran a 4.40, and is realllllllly fast.
I have no clue what to think of Chris Johnson's 4.24 by Chris Johnson is WOW.  Jeez, that's one of the most impressive things I've ever heard.

Devin Hester ran a 4.45 (mind you with the wrong running shoes.)

But even his fastest unofficial time was only 4.29

Fastest ever laser timed (official, most accurate way to do it) was 4.29  by Deion Sanders.

Laser is effective because player can start whenever they want and don't have to wait on reaction time after hearing "go" or a gun shot, plus timer stops when player passes through laser.

Where is he projected in the draft?

I wouldn't say
Chris Henry is reallllllllly fast. Johnson is though.  And Deion is said to have run a 4.17

I was surprised
that Mario Manningham ran so slow today. He didnt really look impressive at all while Desean tore it up.

Manningham looked to me..
Like he could have easily ran in the 4.4 range.. He just had some terrible starts.

Chad Johnson did run somewhere in the 4.5 range when he went to the combine too, and I think he's a little faster than that.
