Jim Schwartz to Interview with the Washington Redskins

This is very interesting.  I thought it was pretty obvious that Greg Williams, who Schwartz worked under here, was the choice to replace Joe Gibbs.  I wonder what Williams thinks about all that.

The article that Jim Wyatt has today also says that Schwartz will interview with Bill Parcells for the Miami Dolphins job.

Think about this though; If Schwartz were to get the job in Washington, there is a good chance that Williams would leave.  Wouldn't it be awesome if he came back here?

In other news, Earl Bennett has decided to forego his senior season at Vanderbilt and enter the NFL draft.

I have no
idea who Earl Bennett is. Is this a Tennessee thing or what?  Cuz I've never heard of him, and I watch a pretty good amount of NCAA football.

What round is he expected to go?

Is he someone that a lot of other teams will know nothing about, but we will cuz he's a local kid?

Any idea
on where he is projected to go?

I cannot say
I've ever seen a Vanderbilt football game. The only reason I knew of them was we played there as the Tennessee Oilers. And then when Cutler was coming out. Other than that I think I've seen a basketball game here and there in the past.

I youtubed him, he looks to have great hands. But his numbers weren't too great this year. I also realize theres a lot that goes into a WRs numbers in college, like the fact I've never heard of their QB either. He only avg. 11ypc this year. I'm imagining hes good possession WR.

Just as long...
as he's better than Drew Bennett. Let's take him.

I'm
confident that if Chow wants the job that he is going to Hawaii.  June Jones recomended him plus he used to coach high school ball there

If he wants to be a college head coach,
Hawaii would be a good place to start.  Plenty of talent, not a lot of competition, reasonable expectations...  It's an obvious stepping stone.

It'll be interesting to see if he leaves.  Hawaii would probably be LESS money, so that would imply a certain level of frustration with the Titans IMO.

it
wouldnt hurt my feelings much if he left.  i got pretty tried of having the lead this season only to let it slip away due to no blitzes no presure just like the playoff game.   that houston game was the same way they come back from 20 somehting down in the 4th and almost beat us cus nobody was getting to thier qwaterback.
i remember the day when buddy ryan was coaching our defence and had the 46 defence working.   that was something to watch, childress and crew were all over the qwaterbacks. all game long they where running for thier lifes.  there was no stopping us whatsoever it was relentless presure for the entire game. i would like to see something like that instead of hill thorw it my way sitting back there all day  trying to cover a reciver cus we have a lead and dont want to give up a big play.

Earl Bennett....
Anyone know of any inside scoop on whether Earl Bennett is close to the Titans organization since he was only like 5 miles from them while at Vandy?

I havent seen him play enough, but leading the SEC in receptions says a thing or two... especially if he only played three seasons!?

I'd at least like to see him at our training camp....  first rounder? Whats his projected round he will go?

Thanks for any info if anyone knows. I cant find any info on what round he will go in.

To All Tennesseans!!!!!
We need info on Earl Bennett! I know that  he has made a lot of catches, for a lot of yards. That does not help. Mike Haas did the same thing. We need like a miniature scouting report. Does dude got some speed? Is he all hands? Can he jump? Do we have a shot of getting him in the 2nd Rd?

by Big Bad Bulluck on Jan 10, 2008 6:32 PM CST reply actions

I watched every game Earl played this year....
....Here is my take: Bennett is 6-1 220.  He is not a burner.  He has good enough speed to get the job done, but he isn't a burner.  He has exceptional hands and runs excellent routes.  His combine numbers will not be through the roof, but he knows how to play football.  I would take him on my team in a heartbeat.

The reason he is leaving Vandy is because he cannot do anything but hurt his stock if he stays.  The Commodores are going to be terrible next season.  He could only hurt himself by hanging around for another season.  I think he is a 2nd-3rd round guy.  He will still be there when the Titans pick in the 2nd round.

Also,
Ask any Tennessee fan about the final drive when Vandy beat them in Knoxville.

Your the man! To tell you the truth, they said a lot of the same things about Moulds.

by Big Bad Bulluck on Jan 10, 2008 8:20 PM CST up reply actions

That is something I really hadn't thought about...
....but you are exactly right.  I think he could have the same success in the league that Moulds had early in his career.

Wild.
I can't believe they'd hire Schwartz over Williams.  But what a potential break it would be for the Titans if Williams came back!
