Touring the Power Rankings

It is time to take a look at where the so-called experts think the Titans rank against the other teams of the NFL.

14. Titans
Travis Who? (OK, we suspect we're not the only ones to have written that since Sunday). The Titans lost 1,200-yard rusher Travis Henry, but Chris Brown took up the slack with a career-high 175 yards in a win over the Jags.

Much was made of the loss of running back Travis Henry. Losing a 1,200-yard rusher to free-agency and replacing him with the Chris Brown/Lendale White/Chris Henry trio was considered a major downgrade. Sure enough, Tennessee finished with 282 yards rushing -- a franchise record -- on Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville. Chris Brown gashed the Jaguars for 175 yards, while LenDale White ripped off 66 on 18 carries. Jacksonville was the big favorite coming into Sunday's contest. Didn't matter. The lesson, as always? Never, ever, ever question Vince Young.

If the Titans display the kind of run blocking they used to run over Jacksonville to the tune of 282 yards, they'll upset a lot of teams in 2007, just like in 2006. That averages out to 14.9. It will be fun to see how high the Titans shoot up these rankings with a win over the Colts on Sunday. Of course, my favorite line of the summaries comes from Fox Sports, "The lesson, as always? Never, ever, ever question Vince Young."

Ranked 21????????

Okay NewsDay.com has bogus rankings I didn't agree with any of it outside of the top few. I really like where we're being ranked around 14-16. We have a lot to prove this Sunday and I can see us reaching the top 10 depending on how well Vince performs and if our Defense shines again.

Anyone who can run over 280 yards

on the road against a respected run defense like the Jags have, they deserve some love in the power rankings. 4th seems closer than 14th, or 21st.

Those guys are idiots

Especially the guy from FoxSports. "The lesson, as always? Never, ever, ever question Vince Young." What an idiot.

And as for the other guy who wants to run the option... well, the truth is that the option is a pretty decent offense that lots of good teams use in college. They do it when they have, on average, superior speed. Most pro teams CAN'T do it because the speed differential on defense isn't there. But the Titans actually COULD and they could make it work. That's not a bad thing. The fact that the Titans don't have to is also not a bad thing.

But seriously, if you have two RBs and a running QB on the field at the same time, that's a whole new level of "option" running. It's inventive and effective. How's that bad?

Because...

Vince didn't play all that great, and yet they're still pointing to him as the reason TN won. IMHO they're doing that because a) Vince is the marquee player, and b) because TN is a small-market team, and truth to tell, they probably don't know that many of the Titans' other players.

the dude that wrote the only option is to run the option was kidding. Just a dig on us running the ball so much. He cannot really be busting on Vince, cuz they gave us 1 of the higher rankings, no?

I kinda liked- never, ever, ever question Vince Young. Even though, never, ever, ever, doubt Vince Young would have been a little more fitting.
