Tennessee Titans Weekend Training Camp Wrap

It is so much fun to have on the field football to talk about.

An interesting note from Terry McCormick this morning mentions that LenDale White, Calvin Lowry and Tony Brown have been getting all of the 1st team reps at their respective positions.

I am really excited to see that Lowry is really getting a shot.  It looks like this is the end for fan favorite Lamont Thompson.  He won't be a Titan when the season starts.

I think LenDale will be the starter when the season opens so I am not surprised to hear this about him.  If LenDale can be the horse and Henry can come in to spell him, the Titans could have a running game that is better than the one that featured Travis Henry last year.  Yeah, I said it.

There were a couple of scrums in camp over the weekend but nothing major.  These kinds of things are going to happen when you have the same guys hitting each other over and over in the 90 degree heat for a few days.  Fisher had this to say:

"They will compete out here, but they're going to walk in that door together," Fisher said. "That's important, one of the most important things of training camp. Learn to practice."

Simeon Rice is scheduled to visit the Giants on Tuesday and take a physical for them.  Mike Reinfeldt said he hopes to bring Rice in after that.  I know there has been a lot of talk that he is now just a pass rusher.  Honestly, I am ok with that if he can be signed for a reasonable price.  The Titans need someone else that can get after the QB.

Things have been pretty quiet on the injury front so far.  Justin Gage didn't practice on Sunday because of a toe problem.  He shouldn't be sidelined long.  The same can be said for Eugene Amano who injured an ankle.

KVB will be wearing a mike during today's practice for a segment that will be aired on the NFL Network Friday.

Quote of the day comes from Vince Young talking about the scrums that happened in practice:

"That's a good thing. Our defense out there thudding up, our offensive line making key blocks," Young said.
"That's what we need. That's why women don't play the game."

Doesn't
It!  I like the sounds of the intensity levels.  As most you guys know I feel that Additude weights in heavy on how a team performs.  So I'm very excited to hear about the jaw jacking and pushing.

It just makes
me more crazy that we drafted M.Griffin. I will support him becuz he is on our team, I'm sure I eventually will love him. But the pick makes no sense. Seeing that Lowry is getting 1st team reps, which is what Jimmy said would happen a while back now. Why not draft a natural CB? Why not draft a DE? Why not draft a WR? I may be the only one, but I just don't get it.

I can only
think that he stands out above the rest some how.

that when it was time to make the pick the looked at the board and was like " wow he stands out above the guys we have ranked"

Lowry is entering his second season, so I'm a firm believe that unless the player completely falls flat on his face his first season that he should have time to develop.

so again i can only think that Griffin showed something to the team that says he can be a #1 corner.

Fisher was a DB, MR was a DB.  so if there is a position they know best it would be this one.  So I will trust in coach fisher until he proves me otherwise!
