Keyshawn Johnson Anyone?

The Panthers cut Keyshawn Johnson today.  I know the Titans have 75 receivers on the roster at this point, but I think I would take a shot at it.  Keyshawn had 70 catches 815 yards and 4 TDs.

I know that he is commonly referred to as "Meshawn" but he seems to have mellowed a bit in his old age.

How funny is it that he was talking about how excited he was about the pick of Dwayne Jarrett, and how he was going to mentor him?  That is probably the move that made the Panthers cut him.

Thoughts....

would be a lot more fun with Keyshawn in Nashville.

Draft
Do you think Keyshawn sitting there commentating on the draft knew he was out the door when the Panthers selected the younger version of him?

Keyshawn employed by ESPN?

anyone notice how he helped them do commentary during the draft?

and rumor has it he didnt get "the 3MM"..

Jarrett's taking his place..

ornery but honest ...

I think
I would take just about any experienced WR right now.

dear lord
please stop being so cheap and but up a little cash (talking to the titans managment here) -- whether or not the guy will be a huge factor on the field, we need some veteran leadership on an offensive group in it's infancy.

No
I do not want him. I would like to see his forty time right now 4.75 is my guess.

I think we should take a stab...
I mean, what are we trying to do, be the Bad News Bears? (super young, unproven team).  The addition of Keyshawn would most likely give VY a threat down the field, if nothing else, opening up the middle for a short cross or something like that to say the TE (is Troupe better yet?).

I mean, unless the titans plan on putting all the DBs they drafted on the field for offense, there's NO vertical threat whatsoever.

I also agree that Keyshawn has mellowed in his old age, and I think he's now playing with a chip on his shoulder.  He's still a pretty good WR as evidenced by his numbers last year, and it seems like he could come into a good situation where he could emerge as VY's go to guy.

Just my 2/100 of a dollar.

Down the field?
Keyshawn may be a target for Vince, but not down the field. Over the middles, yes. Deep threat,no.

ANY
threat is better than no threat...sign this man!

he had more yards last season than our entire WR roster did....nuff said.

by mnc1031 on May 1, 2007 8:28 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

NO!
Do NOT sign this man! He is 35 years old... he isn't good for much anymore. I'd rather see the money donated to charity... because otherwise you're just going to donate it to Keyshawn's pocket book... and we'll get nothing in return. And the fact that we do have 75 WR's on the current roster gives me confidence that signing him isn't going to be one of our priorities.

AND THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT!

btw
I'm confused as to which WR I'm supposed to change my name too lol

Yeah
I think you may need to wait until about week 8 to figure that out.

Where have you been man?

Jimmy
Can we do a poll or contest on this?  I think It's either going to be Jones, Gage, or R. Williams

by white02slpss on May 2, 2007 9:08 AM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't think
it will be Gage because we just signed him.  I think there is a good shot it is at least one of the other 2.  I am about to post a poll in a diary so we can see how good we are.

I Say Yes
Keyshawn would be a good addition, as long as he knows his role.

On Mike and Mike
this morning they were talking about Johnson.

His Agent said that he has been Contacted by several teams and that he actually has 3 or 4 offers already and he says Johnson will play again.

It's rumored that the Titans are interested.

but anyways they had a good point.  Keyshawn will do the dirty work for you.  His numbers last year show you that.  He is a guy you want on 3rd and 7. because he will get you 8.

he also knows he is no longer a number 1 WR.  the more I think about it the more I'd like to see the titans go after him
