NFL Power Rankings Time
It is time to take a look at where the so-called experts think the Titans rank against the other teams of the NFL.
LenDale White this season: 670 yards rushing/receiving, 5 TDs. Former USC teammate Reggie Bush in New Orleans: 711 yards rushing/ receiving, 5 TDs. White was the 45th overall pick in '06; Bush was 2nd. Hey, we're just saying ...
The Titans' defense did it again. Making up for yet another sub-par day from Vince Young, the Tennessee defense kept the Panthers bottled up and flustered all afternoon in Nashville. Albert Haynesworth recorded three sacks, as the Titans recorded a season-high seven sacks in the game. The D held their opponents to 14 or fewer points for the sixth time this season. LenDale White, meanwhile, finished with 100 yards, his third straight game of 100 rushing yards or more. With a suffocating defense and a pounding rushing attack, Tennessee's 6-2 and right in the thick of the AFC playoff picture.
The Titans improved to four games above .500 thanks to holding the Panthers to under 200 yards of offense. Additionally, Tennessee gained 1 game on the Colts, thanks to New England's come from behind win at Indianapolis. The Titans also moved 1 game ahead of the Jaguars who lost at Tampa Bay.
Three straight victories for the streaking Titans. Vince Young was less than perfect, but the Titan D teed off on Carr and the Panther offense, logging seven sacks, limiting Carolina to one meaningless TD, and dishing out a concussion for Carr.
It's all about the defense with this team. They get after the passer. Jim Schwartz is doing a heck of a job.
LenDale White might be better than Reggie Bush.
Albert Haynesworth continues to be a one-man wrecking crew.
No commentary.
Combined record of the six teams they have beat: 21-28. Can you say ... FRAUD?
This week's average is 6.88.

Finally
I prefer that we stay below the radar though. The Titans play much better when no one respects them.

Comment on the quarterback MY thoughts exactly
When Vince Young zipped into the end zone for an easy first-quarter touchdown run, fantasy football players everywhere rejoiced.
Finally, they hoped, Young was on his way to that long-delayed monster game. Instead, he again sputtered to victory last week with the usual feeble numbers: 110 yards passing, two interceptions, no TD throws.
This latest flop should be the last straw for fantasy owners who've been cleverly tucking Young away on the bench. It's time to face the sad reality that this sleeper has nothing, at least this year. He must be cut simply because his roster spot would be better used on free-agent gambles.
Scared to let go of a guy with so much upside? Just check out his downside. Halfway through the season, Young has three TD passes, eight interceptions, a high-schoolish 122 yards passing a game and meager rushing yardage.
In retrospect, even University of Texas fans should have seen it coming. He wasn't very accurate last year and had more interceptions (13) than TDs (12). Plus, the Titans entered the season with the perfect recipe for conservative play: no receivers, a gaggle of running backs and a brutal defense.

Everyone needs to stop responding to Joy Kat
That's the only way he'll go away. Arguing with him just adds more fuel to the fire.
Oh yeah, and if you have to talk about him, just call him/her it.
The only way to get it away is to ignore it.

The problem with the records thing...
Pretty much everybody else is actually lousy, with at best one strong area and nothing more than the occasional ability to win games against other very flawed teams. See also: Chargers, Ravens, Browns, Broncos, Panthers, etc.

Can't really agree...
However, I don't think that makes everyone else lousy. Due to the salary cap and free agency, the teams change every year and it's hard to field a 100% complete team every season. On top of that, the coach has to get the team ready to play every single game.
Last season it was a Colts/Bears Superbowl, but there's no way you could call the Bears a complete team.
I believe that a complete NFL team is rare. This year we happen to have three.
Well... two... I think you left out an important aspect in Coaching. If the Steelers had better coaching (Not a slight to Tomlin, but he's no Tony D.), they wouldn'tve lost those 2 games to beatable teams.
You're right about the Dallas Secondary... there are questions there. However, they are a good team. Any other year and they might be considered a great team, but this year they couldn't hang with the Patriots.
Also, to me a great defense can make up for a lot. The '06 Bears for example...

This goes back to the question...
Anyway, I agree with everything you said. "Lousy" is a comparative, relative term, of course, but I guess I just don't see that much seperation between, say, the Chargers and the Bills and/or the Bills and maybe the Falcons. Once you get into what I've started thinking of as "the band of mediocrity," you're apt to see some strange and often unimpressive play, even out of teams that are ostensibly very good.
Anyway, my actual point was only that if you have a few teams with VERY good records, then you MUST have some teams with VERY BAD records because somebody has to lose all those games. The proof of that, I think, is that this year there are quite a few teams that are basically still in contention--in both conferences--despite having .500 or worse records. Hence, the idea that some team can have a 9-0 or even 6-2 record against teams with a combined winning record is actually statistically unlikely. If multiple teams are gonna go 9-0, 7-1, 6-2, then there also must be a bunch that must do the reverse, and more to the point, the best teams simply can't play each other every week. It's a physical impossibility.

I disagree!
The Giants are on a great 6 game win streak, but over the past 4 games they're beaten:
The Dolpins, 49ers, Falcons, and the Jets. Their only loses are to Dallas and the Redskins, but I would like to see them beat someone good besides the Eagles (who are questionable anyway).
I am not saying they are bad, but that can be inconsistent at times (I question their coaching). Also, the way they're hyping the Cowboys-Giants matchup this week I think it's hard to say they're underrated.
I would say they're ranked exactly where they should be.

Why is it
Fisher just said that Young improves weekly and that is what they want.
Fisher also says that Young does what he wants him to do.
what you also fail to realize is that this is a TEAM and the team wants Young out there.
Would our defense be as good if Collins was out there? Would their mind set be, "are QB is young and is going to make mistakes, so we need to make up for those mistakes"
Also take into account that most Titans fans were excited to be considered for Possible playoff contention (mainly because of young) and going into this Season the Defense wasn't expected to be this good (I knew they would be vastly improved, but not this good) So had the defense been Ranked 32 again and the titans behind in all games, don't you think that would give Young better numbers with the increased chances? I DO.
Look at Youngs #'s on a per game bases. they aren't that bad. This last game he threw 2 INTs, one of which wasn't his fault. So be it. collins will throw INT's too. If you ask me I think Youngs developement is being slowed by the coaching staff trying to protect him to much.
If we are lossing a game by 25 points in the 4th qt then they wouldn't have much to lose and let it fly. But when you are in every game they are calling plays and having Young manage it and not allowing him to go down field.
again look at the game and tell me when the INT's come. it's early in the game.
But yes Young has to play better and each and every week he is!

I focus on the stats because they tell a lot
No, stats are not everything, but when it comes down to it, the statistically better team will prevail most of the time. That also means the statistics of individual players mean plenty. Would you rather have Rex Grossman or Brett Favre?

Favre?
And he got that this year, at 38, while the guy who had it before him played until he was 48.
So it took him 10 fewer years to throw that many interceptions, and that was a record that had stood for over 30 years.
That's a lot of interceptions, and yet you seem to think he's good...
...so that means that guys who throw INTs can be good! Guys like Vince.
Thanks for agreeing with everyone else here after all.

Beleive me I am not extolling the greatness of
Right now the Titans have a choice between Young and Collins. Yes the Titans would sacrifice mobility with Collins in place of Young, but they would gain in passing offense stats with Collins, which I feel is much more important in light of the fact that Young's running ability really hasnt shined this year.
The Titans cannot possibly make it to the Superbowl with Young, the defense and White cannot do it without a decent quarterack. Grossman last year had fantastic numbers in comparison to Young this year. Last year Grossman threw for 23 TDs with 20 picks. So Young's numbers this year 2 Tds to 8 INT look quite sad.
It does help to explain that Grossman wasnt horrible though, even though he didnt look very good. I can think of about 17 active quarterbacks I would rather have than Grossman.
Yes I like statistics, they generally tell most of the story. Like I said earlier, they dont account for everything, but who would you say is going to go to the Superbowl? Probably the Colts or the Patriots. Why? Because statistically they are leading in many categories.

Brett Favre also holds the most TDs thrown
Also his numbers look way better than Youngs for passing in his first two years.
Anyhow, Favre is not my top guy, I would take him in a heartbeat over Young though. No question.

I did reply to you I sent you an email
Anyway I cut and pasted what I wrote.
...............
I honestly did not notice it until today. Of
course someone answered John Elway. Those are interesting numbers on him.
There are other factors that come in to play, how good was his offensive line in those years? It must have been ok since they made it to the playoffs. As I am certain you seen, Elway's numbers improved the second year, they did not decline (unlike Young) and they improved in the third year.
His TD to interception ratio is far better than Young's as well.
Would have I been concerned with Elway after year one? Yes, I would have a little, not enough to let him go though. Young should be improving this year not going the other way. The overall Titan team is better than last years. The offensive line is sound and the defense is first in the league. That should be fertile ground for a 2nd year quarterback to showcase his abilities and he just isnt doing that.
Thanks for the question and I will try to notice it next time.

I'll have to
What you fail to see is that because the Defense and running game are performing so good that it's making Young look worse in the Stat column.
Have we had the 32nd rank defense again and terrible running game then Young wouldn't look so bad. He'd just be a struggling young QB on a young team that isn't that good. But the team would also not have much to lose by letting Young go.
Kind of what they did last year when he took over the team.
But this year it's more about learning the management of the game. If young masters the management of the game early then he has the tools to excell beyond most peoples expectations.

That really doesnt make sense
The Titans have an atmosphere a quarterback dreams of, having a great defense that can hold other teams nearly scoreless and an offensive line that gives him plenty of time to throw or run or make decisions. That is the stuff dreams are made of and yet he (YOung) is not making the most of it. Almost any decent throwing quarterback would have had 8 TDs this season by now. I think that is a conservative estimate.

That...
That no seperation thing is what's killing the passing game. Every time you look, the CB is climbing all over the receiver. It's just sad. And that's why the only passes that get completed are the short ones that hook. Everything else has been blanketed.
