Bengals 35 Titans 6: I Have No Words

Well we just got home from the mountains.  I listened to the 2nd half of the game on the way in, and I have no idea what has happened to this team.  I have not watched the game yet.  I plan on doing that later tonight.  It is probably best that I don't type anything more until tomorrow because it will give me time to sleep off any anger I get from watching the game.  I don't want to write anything that I regret later.

The only thing I have to say right now is that Vince Young is the Titans QB.  Replacing him with Kerry Collins might be better in the short term, but it is not what is best for the long term success of this franchise.  Vince has to play through this.  Joy Kat has sent me an email after every game the Titans lost telling me how bad Vince is.  Be happy that I banned her so that you don't have to listen to the same crap she was spewing on here for the month she was with us.  The season isn't over.  Just keep telling yourself that and maybe, probably not but maybe, you will feel a little better.

collins
can't see it.  in this three game slide, the titans have been awful in almost all aspects.  when you watch today's game, you'll see how uniformly bad things are.

the run game has vanished, defense has vanished, special teams is playing just plain dumb, and the coaching staff is apparently out holiday shopping.  VY isn't winning any prizes either, but i think other aspects of the team have been performing a lot stinkier than him.  swapping him out for collins at this point would be futile and irrelevant.

they need to get their heads in a different place.  a player's only meeting couldn't hurt.

player's only meeting
who's going to call for it? i mean, are there really any leaders on the team right now. the whole team seems lost right now. the only guy who's got his head on straight seems to be bironas. maybe folks should be calling on him to play qb and not collins.

Vince Young
It seems to me like yall arent watching the game if you are blaming this on Vince.
Vince played pretty well today. The more they open the playbook the more passing yards he has, and the more yards he has the more they will open the playbook. This means Vince's stats will finally go up and all the complainers will go away. Vince though would have some sick stats if it werent for terrible recievers and an oline that has decided not to show up for 5 weeks in a row now.( No quarterback would have been able to hold on to the ball that vince fumbled. ) Vince has no time at all back their, and when he does he is making some good plays.
The recievers also couldnt be any worse. The titans GM needs to realize Vince is great, but he cant do it on his own.  They need to draft a playmaker at reciever as well as a speedy back to utilize the zone read.
This team will be fine, but the coaches and GMs are leaving vince out to dry, and blaming it on him. Every QB makes mistakes, but when the team around you wont help you out its a tough situation.

Roydell wiliams and the other recievers drop the ball on every deep rout, and all need to be cut immediately.

Go Titans, and lay off of vince, if the recievers knew how to catch the ball, and the oline gave him a little more time none of these offensive woes would be happening.
Im not saying hes playing the best ball of his life, im just saying that the whole team isnt playing well and blaming it on him is just a stupid way out.

I agree...
VY has been the only bright spot the past 3 weeks.

i think i firugred out
i got it  remember last year?  had kerry in there doing nothing at the start of the season. then vince came in and didnt do much at all eaither.   well what changed everything anybody remember?  i do, it was the hit on vince at the giants game that turned it around for the titans.   i remember vince poping up and getting pissed not asking for the ref to throw a flag.  thats whats missing this year intensity! football is, what do they say 70 percent mental 30 physical?   that was the play that turned vince on.  i remember the play that turned eddie geogre into a pansy it was a hit by the ravens by ray lewis.  eddie was never the same after that hit never was. he lost his drive at that moment when ray lewis layed him out.  i like eddie but just goes to show you if your head isnt in the game and you dont have intensity your going to preform poorly.
i mean how much can albert make a difference. i am sure alot. there was a few plays where i saw his replacment getting stood up and pushed backwards 4 yards and he wanst only moving backwards he was facing the wrong way as their back converted a 3rd and short and ran right by the titans guy. who is these players replacing albert? i know of only one randy starks? tony brown does ok.  but who is this new guy?
this to shall pass we will eventually win a game.  heres an idea maybe put the same defence we had at the start of the season back in  like get rid of griff cus maybe with the new guys in there there just isnt any chemistry?

by dentureboy on Nov 25, 2007 11:23 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

ps
why isnt albert playing?  why is jeff fisher a pansy when it comes to injurys?  arnt they getting paid to play hurt?   jeff says well albert isnt ready?  well find a way to get him out on the field.  he can whine after the season is over about his hammy.  he should have been in there today!   whats up with vinces qwad?  fisher was a pansy with him to.  if they can walk they should be in there playing is my opinion.  they get paid enough to play hurt. hell give me a million a game id find a way to  play with  pulled muscle.   they say its because we dont want to further injure albert? meantime the entire season is going down the tubes while we wait for albert to come back.  put some ben gay on that bitch and go play some football

And at what
point is it too late for Haynesworth?

It is gonna be nice for him to get back for our last game after we have lost 5 in a row cause he was out!  It will be worthless then.

What is he saving it for!  Our defense is floundering!

Go Titans!

I'm starting to think those draft prognosticators
...were right.

About everything.

I mean, the Titans just looked BAD from every angle.  Without Big Al in at DT, they can't stop the run, and when you can't stop the run vs. a team with a good QB, that's real trouble.  And man, I can't believe I ever thought Lowry was a good player, although I can imagine he'd look better if there was a pass run from the D-Line.

Still, I figured the Titans could win based on Cleveland's weakness vs. the run via a control-the-clock style game, but clearly something has gone dramatically wrong with the running game.  Is LenDale nicked up, or is he just tired?  I don't know, but right about now we're missing T. Henry in a big way.

2nd YR QB, no running game, 1 receiver, no D-Line, questionable secondary...  Argh.  I'm sorry, but this team looks like roadkill.

Lendale...
is just not a good NFL player.  he had a couple of nice games, but that is it.  he has to be able to break a tackle and pick up a first down on 3rd and one.  he did it at USC, but he also was a change of pace from a pretty good back.  I would love to see Chris Brown get the bulk of the carries from now on.  He needs to stay healthy, and if not...rub some ben gay on th____! (I laughed out loud on that one too!).

by gotitans27 on Nov 26, 2007 7:43 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Hall
I really think Hall being out with an injury had affected out run game.

He should be back next week, so we will see if our run game improves.

I am not defending Lendale. He has looked very slow. I am not sure, but it could be an issue with his conditioning.

10-4 on Chris Brown
The Y.P.C. speak for theirselves. Lendale 3.5 vs Chris 5.2. START CHRIS BROWN!!

They figured us out
Before the season started, the "pundits" said we had no running backs or recievers.

In the first half of the season, our running game was good.

However

Once everybody figured out our receivers couldn't catch a cold, our running game was shut down.

I like 12-Gage, but like I said before, take everybody with a jersey number in the 80's (yes, including the TE's) and show them the door at the end of the season.

And Free Biren Ealy!  Playing him now won't hurt us in the least bit.

by Rustmeister on Nov 26, 2007 10:51 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Wow!
You guys are really down on the team today!  Yes we are stuggling, but keep this in mind.

We are still a young time.  Vince, Lowry, Finnegen are all in the 2nd seasons!

Scaife, Bironas, T brown, Cramer, Fuller, R Hill, B Jones, Roos, Stewart, R. Williams are only in thier 3rd years.

So with a Young team you are going to have hard times and we are at that point right now.

Haynesworth said that the Defense isn't playing with the right attitude and if any of you know me you know I'm all about football being 85% plus about attitude.

This is were the team is learning to over come adversity and win again.  I think it's a good thing that they are doing it now rather than later.  they are learning what it takes to win and the hard work it's going to take.  They will get back on track and when that happens this is going to be a team that NO ONE (pat's included) want to play!

so let's keep our heads up and look forward to Houston at home!

Oh
by the way. only change I would do right now is start Chris Brown instead of White.  He can't handle the load.  I think Brown should come in and get the big gains early and then let a fresh white pound the ball in the 4th

by white02slpss on Nov 26, 2007 11:14 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

I agree with you
100% I like your outlook. I think we can turn this around.

Kerry Collins is not going to help!

If I keep hearing people say this, I'm going to stop reading this site. They will follow Vince! Who would you go to battle with? Come on, lets not be ridiculous. Long term or Short term Vince is the answer.

by Big Bad Bulluck on Nov 26, 2007 12:36 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Something
else people should keep in mind is that Vince's numbers are MUCH better the last 3 games then the others.

mainly because the coaches were holding him back.  but now that he has some confidence in himself and the coaches I think you'll see a lot more from Vince.

Let's take the Denver game.  take the 3 drop passes as catches and put the right Titans defense out there and it's not EVEN a game.  Titans win BIG!

negativity
pretty understandable, that game had almost zero silver linings.  justin gage is about the only bright spot i can think of.  plus, the weather sucks.  plus, i'm tired of turkey already.

by numbertenox on Nov 26, 2007 2:55 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Just think
I could always be worse.  Albert could be lost for the season, Vince could have the madden curse hit him, KVB could end up with another bum knee.

As for Turkey?  Well that is a personal choice and as for the weather?

We are expecting 4 inches of snow (winter weather advisory) and an over night low in the single digits.  Oh and tomorrows high should be mid 20's.

Like I said it could aways be worse!

by white02slpss on Nov 26, 2007 2:59 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

ok, that's worse
I feel much better now.  Also, the Titans aren't the Dolphins.  It's all in the perspective

hamstrings
Have any of you ever suffered a hamstring injury?

I have ... repeatedly ... and I know how long it takes to recover and how utterly useless you would be while playing any sport without being 100 percent recovered from the injury.

HEAD UP!
YEA I WAS SO MAD YESTERDAY 1 COULD BITE NAILS IN TWO BUT TODAY I'M HEALING.WE GOTTA REMEMBER THEY ARE YOUNG  WE PROBABLY EXPECT TOO MUCH TOO QUICK. REMEMBER IT HAS BEEN WORSE. I DO WISH WE HAD SOMEONE WHO COULD STEP UP AND FILL ALBERTS SHOES. INJURIES ARE GONNA HAPPEN AND I HATE HAVING TO DEPEND ON ONE MAN AND HOPE HE STAYS HEALTHY. IF WE MAKE THE PLAY OFFS AND HE GOES OUT WE'RE IN BIG TROUBLE. GO TITANS

At the start of the season,
I'd have been happy with 9-7 and another narrow miss for the playoffs.  But then, after those first three games...  it's just maddening.
