Denver Broncos 34 Tennessee Titans 20

That sound you heard was once againt the cash register going off in Albert Haynesworth's head.  The defense is just terrible without him in the middle.  They gave up 166 rushing yards on 26 plays.  In case you cannot do the math, that is 6.4 yards per rushing play, which is really bad.

The defense was bad against the pass as well.  Jay Cutler was 16 of 21 for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns.  The Titans couldn't get any pressure on him.  Teams have gone back to blocking Kyle Vanden Bosch with at least 2 guys every play.  The rest of the line cannot mount a pass rush.

Vince Young played well.  He had his first career 300 yard passing game.  People have been down on Vince all season.  The loss tonight was not his fault at all.  The receivers let him down.  Justin Gage is the only guy Vince can count on.  That is pretty sad.

This hurts the Titans playoffs chances, but it is not the end of the world.  They are now in a tie with the Cleveland Browns for the 2nd wild card spot.

I will have a more in-depth recap tomorrow.

I should know more about football...
But it is possible for two wildcards from the same division?

I didn't realize that, but it sounds like that is the case from the article you wrote, Jimmy.

yup, absolutely
not uncommon even - last year in the NFC both wild cards were taken by the NFC East division (Philadelphia won the division, Dallas and Giants took the wildcard slots).

better position than last year at least
last year they were clawing to get into that second wild-card slot and needing tons of help, this year they are in it and just gotta keep from sliding all the way out of it.

Remaining games:
Cincinnati, Houston, San Diego, Kansas City, Jets, Colts

My guess, 9-7 or 10-6.  If the defense gets back to what it looked like before the collapse I like our chances still (I knew Haynesworth was key, but it's looking like Harper is crucial too).

Great game by Cutler.  I was very happy to see the spark of life in VY again.  Denver smack talking about punishing him if he tried to run on them, and that was his best running game this year.

wide recievers
It is clear that this defense needs Fat Albert. If we don't throw fat cash at him this off season then I really have to quetion the motives of this franchise because we have so much money to spend in the off season.

My main concern though is over the recievers. I'm not going to lie, I have questioned Vince at times, but his recievers let him down so much. B Jones dropped a big pass on ouir first drive which would have resulted in points, and Roydell dropped a TD pass. Both were perfect throws by Vince. His first interception was a little behind the reciever but it turned out to be the stronger man who caught it, and the second one was just a young players mistake, trying to do too much. Still, he fought so well today, and played a great game. He could have thrown for 400 yards if Scaife didnt drop the pass and Roydell and Jones caughtt theirs. And all this was against a great Broncos pass D, that knew we would be throwing after falling behind early.

I would love to see the Titans go out and get a big play reciever, or at least draft a big name. They have spent too many 3rd, 4th, 5th round draft picks on wide outs that are no better than number 3's on a team. Vince needs someone now, in the beginning of his career, so he can grow with someone and half a favorite target. I have heard that Chad Johnson may be shopped around this off season. Is he worth it, as he might come with a poor locker room presence?

we really shot ourselves in the foot
though in this game. Their big td run went straight thru Albert's territory. Their two big td passes wouldn't have been if we tackled right away as both catches were around the 20 yards line. We didn't cover the punt well, and in the end of the game we had two penalties on our returns that pushed us back and brought on a longer field. And of course, the dropped passes...ugh.

VY was the only reason it was even a game.
Without him, the Titans get crushed--badly.

Yeah
But if Collins was in there he would have went for 500 yards and we would have won!

This is how I saw it
Albert is really Missed. Line isn't getting any pressure all of a sudden.  I figured we'd get some at least, but nothing at all. Big plays are going to happen from time to time but it just looks terrible right now.

Hill can't tackle to save his life and Lowry can't either.

We lost this game because of 4 plays.  Punt Return, Stockleys TD, Marshalls TD, and the 62 yard run.  3 of the 4 plays came because Albert, Harper and Hope were out.  Maybe Harper and Hope miss the tackles too, but I'd like to think they don't

Hope
What happened to Hope? He doesn't seem to be in any injury reports I've found. Missed most of the game...

He got banged up....
....during the game, but I think he only missed a series or 2.
