Pacman Jones Reaches Plea Agreement in Las Vegas

I will once against lift my self-imposed ban on #32 talk for one post. As ryansax mentioned here Pacman has reached a plea agreement in the triple shooting that happened in Las Vegas. He has pleaded no contest to conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct. He will serve a 1 year suspended sentence which means he will be on probation for a year. He also has to complete 200 hours of community service, comply to drug tests and take anger management classes.

I was really harsh on #32 when this whole thing came out. It appears now that the authorities have pretty much cleared him of what happened in Vegas. I thought I should post this in the spirit of fair posting.

This doesn't really matter to the Titans or the NFL at all at this point. It might help him in his appeal of the suspension but probably not. If he can stay clean between now and next season it will be interesting to see what happens before the 2008 season.

Well

This only angers me once again! Tank Johnson who got to start and play a game last week has been convicted of much worse.

Fairness is Fairness! facts are facts! Jone's is not innocent by any means. But you can't let someone start making judgements on someone else based off of "hear say"

Yes Adam Jones has been "questioned" in several different cases and each and every time nothing has really come about it. Does that make him innocent, probably not. but what the commish has done is said that if he thinks it's wrong then so be it!

I can't say I like that much.

It's such a slippery slope...

...to punish for crimes when there's no conviction. I agree that Pac may not be a nice guy, but I also think he got railroaded here.

I don't understand how..

the commissioner is the one who gets to hear the appeals. Why would he ever appeal on a decision he made in the first place?! We gave this man way too much power! I don't mind the one year suspension but at least be consistent all the way across the board. Also how exactly did Jared Allen (please correct me if it was someone else) get his suspension reduced?

I did always think....

....it was a little ridiculous that the same man handed down the suspension and heard the appeal. If he thought the suspension was fair when he handed it down, why would he change his mind?

I don't want people thinking that i'm ok with what Jones did!

It's just that it needs to be fair and right now I'm kind of pulling to see him back on the field this year because of that.

His probation in GA? Didn't they delay a hearing to see the outcome of the Vegas court ruling? Wouldn't he be in violation of his probation in GA, and go to jail?

It shouldn't.

So long as he stays out of trouble in each state in which he has probation, he should be okay. Best solution = don't go back to Nevada.

I really think the reason they can't let Vince go is because the wrs will just put the ball on the ground. Or worse, tip it to the defense (86). They're not at all on the same page with Vince. Hopefully one day though...

if i was bud adams i would have pacman back if he stays out of trouble. hes to good of a player to just give up on. maybe he has gotten a bad rap a little bit. the cominisher is treating him like the step child of the legue. i think its something personal about the comish and he is using pacman as an example of the power the new comish weilds. its a power play with goodell, he cant play football never could but he gets a ego trip of deciding the fate of up and comming stars.
sure put him on probation and let him know things cant stay like that but keep a even hand and cut him some slack. got to remember thats pacmans world, he came from the streets and its going to take some time to adjust to the elite class of society like the good comisner has been used to all his life.
