Around SBN: Interview With UMD Athletic Director, Dr. Debbie Yow

Tennessee Titans 20 Atlanta Falcons 13

The Titans are 3-1.  That is really all that matters.  It was one of the ugliest wins I have ever seen.  I think BBB said it best in the game thread when he said, "Well we
tried, we did all we could. But we just couldn't seem to pull out the LOSS!"

Get ready.  This week the Vince Young haters are going to be out in full force.  They are going to talk about how the Titans win in spite of him and not because of him.  Today, I have to admit that was the case.  The best news is this teams is good enough to win when he plays like that.  Vince will be fine.  He is going to win some games this year that no other quarterback in the league can win.  He will be fine.

Again, the Titans are 3-1.  It is the best start since 2003, when they last made the playoffs.  The defense proved to be dominate once again.  They only allowed 99 yards rushing, 49 of that was on the fake punt, and 115 yards passing.  That is dominating even against a bad offense.

The MVP of the game may just be Craig Hentrich.  If he tries to punt that ball, it gets blocked, and the Falcons probably recover it in the end zone for a TD.  Hentrich realized this and just took the hit.

A win is a win, and we are allowed to enjoy it.  Full recap coming tomorrow.

Just some thoughts
I was listening to the postgame show leaving the stadium and I heard Vince come up to the podium.  He knows how bad he played and he said so.  I am not worried--as someone called in said--he is going to win us a whole lot more games that he will lose us.  Just one of those games.

This was maybe the first game I have been to (season ticket holder for two years, going randomly as long as the team has been in Tennessee) that I hardly saw any Falcons fans.  And that was awesome.  I guess they are too frustrated to travel.  The stadium was rocking, and it didn't matter how frustrated we were with the play of the offense, everyone was always ready to get behind the defense.

Hentrich saved the game when he ate that ball.  A block right there would surely have been a TD.  Oh and whoever jumped over the center and grabbed Leftwich forcing the bad pitch. We couldn't see who it was from our seats, but that was amazing.

I did see a guy wearing a Vick jersey with CON in ductape in front of Vick.  Get it?

I also some guy strutting around in a brand new (or at least it looked brand new) Vick authentic jersey.  I wanted to grab him and say "seriously?"

And my wife is not happy with me cause she said I grabbed some strange girl's ass during the celebration when Vinny Fuller went for his little run.

What can I say, I was excited!

Go Titans!

whew
we got super lucky....should have lost...

The defense was dominating...just astounding.

Big Al was a stud.  Actually all the defensive line played great.

I think the special teams played worse than Vince (which isn't saying much).  Giving up that fake punt.  Davis fumbling away another punt.  Henrich almost getting a punt blocked.  Norwood having 2 huge kick returns.  Bironas missing a FG.  Ugh...Fisher needs to put in some extra time for the special teams.

2nd Year QBs have Bad Games
Yeah well, while it's true that VY had a bad game, it's also true--as one of the Titans' coaches said--that all young QBs go through that.  Even Manning used to have the occasional 3 INT day, and God knows that Brett Favre has had those kinds of games.  Hell, three years ago Schottenheimer nearly benched Drew Brees after San Diego gave up a game that was very like this.  No QB is immune to this.

A lot of the Titans were trying too hard.  The good thing about this is that they'll see that a) they don't have too, and b) when they DO try too hard, they hurt themselves.
