Tennessee Titans 38 Houston Texans 36

I don't really have any words to sum that game up right now.  The Titans were on the brink of owning one of the worst collapses in NFL history.  I have no idea what the record is for points given up in the 4th quarter, but I imagine if 29 isn't a record, it is pretty darn close.  I don't understand why the Titans' defense can stop everything except for the long pass.

Kerry Collins did what you want a back-up QB to do.  He came in and led the team to a win.  He only turned the ball over 1 time.  There still isn't any scenario where I want him in when Vince Young is 100% healthy.  DonFrancisco and I were talking the other day about how the Collins vs. Vince Young debate reminds us a lot of the Steve McNair vs. Neil O'Donnell debate.  Most people eventually realize that McNair was the obvious choice and shut up.  That will happen in this instance as well, no matter how many comments Joy Kat leaves in this thread or how many emails are sent to me telling me how stupid I am.

The Titans have played 3 bad weeks in a row coming off the bye.  The good news is they are 2-1 since the bye.  I think we will all take that.  We will take a more indepth look at the game tomorrow when my head stops spinning.

I don't think there is any way..
that we don't see Griffin out there next week.  Whether it's at corner or replacing Lowry at safety.. our secondary needs a spark, and I think Griffin is they play-maker that could be the big difference.

Agree completely.
Also, I bet Fat Albert gets a fine for that "helmet to helmet" hit.

one positive thing
one positive thing to take from this: the titans got another fourth-quarter come-from-behind road victory under their belts, albeit not in the most conventional of manners.

Shades of the Past
I have been an Oilers fan all my life.  I have loved them for years and years through thick and thin.  I kept seeing the playoff games with the Bills and the Broncos (which I attended at Mile High--in Oiler Blue).  I'm sooooo glad that this time didn't completely let this one get away.  An obvious meltdown, but still a W.

Luv Ya Blue!

Big Bill

P.S.  Chris Henry is a stud, and Griffin should be on the field a LOT more.

red zone o
what's wrong with it? it's not as if we're a particualrly vertical offense.

We need one of the tight ends, or moulds..
to start becoming the target that Vince or Kerry needs when we get down inside the 20.. We just have no way to move the ball when they know it's going to LenDale..

Kerry Collins performed fabulously today
Kerry is the best choice for the Titans, this game certainly proved it.  When the defense absolutely crumbled Kerry  threw a down field pass to put the Titans in field goal position for the 8th time.  Everyone should recognize that there is NO WAY on Gods green earth that VY would have been able to do that NO WAY.  The game would have been lost if not for the efforts of Collins and Bironas.  Collins can throw effectively and efficiently.  He would not be in the NFL for 13 years if he was terrible as some people (Jimmy) here suggest. Collins is not a Manning or a Brady but he does possess a much much greater talent for throwing the football than VY, and lets face it, that is what wins ball games.  The ground game is not working that well for the Titans, although Len Dale white had his best day ever. Vince can sit on the sidelines and watch Collins win ballgames.  Let him ride the bench for awhile, Collins is the better choice.  TODAY PROVED IT Jimmy

Good point
Vince has never led a come from behind victory.  Collins's record as a starter is below .500.  Vince's is 11-6.  Collins did play well today, but he should not be the QB of this team if Vince is healthy.

With regards to using the whole 13 years..
in the league stat.. That proves nothing in regards to him having any talent as a quarterback. I mean Jamie Martin is in his 13th season in the NFL too, I guess we should probably trade Vince for him so we can have another solid starter if Collins goes down.

Hey Joy,
You have to see that there are differences to the Offensive game plan besides just having Collins in at QB.  The Titans very clearly played "not to beat themselves".  The whole game plan--they even talked about this on the radio before the game--was to take what the opposing D gave them and be willing to punt rather than turn the ball over.  So yeah, 8 FG's but NO interceptions.  That's got very little to do with Collins and a lot more to do with the fact that they scaled the Offense back--on purpose.

But I dare say that they'd have scored more rushing TD's with the better rushing QB in the game.

And BTW, for those of you who, besides me, lit a candle for Chris Henry... Let's keep doing that!

you're right..
the ground game is not working that well this year we are only ranked 6th in the nfl. kerry collins did put us in position to kick the 8th field goal of the game... although i'm not so sure if that is something to brag about if you're on offense. Going into the 4th quarter up 32-7 that blame can not be put solely on the defense. The Texans only recovered one onside kick so our offense had a chance to answer a lot of those scores as well as run some time off the clock.

I thought they played a really good game...
...save for the Nick Harper and Calvin Lowry.  And even then, Harper was good for 3 QTRs.  But something happened to that guy 'cause he got burned ALL DAY in the 4th.  That was ridiculous.

But other than that, seriously, the whole rest of the team played really well--even in the 4th.  Granted, they were VERY conservative, but I thought that was a really good strategy until they lost the onsides kick.

My comments
on collins vs. Young.

I don't believe Collins is as bad as a QB as most on this site believe.  I think if Vince was to be lost for a long time that Collins could come in and take us to the play offs.

With that Said Vince is still our starter when Healthy.

When watching yesterdays game there were about a dozen plays that Collins couldn't escape the rush and make something happen, as to were Young could have.  Collins had better passing yards then Young probably would have, but that is collins game. Plus it's how Young is coached.  Young is coached to take a few reads and then check down.  Plus Young isn't the risk taker Collins is at this point.

With Time behind Center Young will learn those little things needed and still be athletic enough to make a lot of things happen.

Does Young give us a better Chance to win over Collins?  At this point I don't know if he does or not.  I think it would be even.  But Young is the future of this Team and he needs to play.

I think Collins did a great job yesterday and right now I'm glad he is our Back up QB.  As for his Fumble, Well that could have just as well happened to Young or any other QB in the league.  Ryans came in unblocked and that was a short drop that just played right into the defense. Nothing other than picking up Ryans could have been done on that play.

If that would have been Vince Young yesterday

Kerry Collins proved he is a starting quarterback, just because they didnt score touchdowns in the red zone doesnt mean he shouldnt get the nod.  Vince Young did not convert on plenty of opportunities this year, and he is the one who is supposed to be the dual threat?????  He is the one who is supposed to use his talents and be the playmaker.  Well, in 5 starts he couldnt do it.  He only threw for 3 TDs .
I would take a precision passer anyday over Vince Young.  Take that to the bank.!!!!!!!
