2012 Tennessee Titans Wins Over/Under
The good, recreational folks over at Covers.com have released their over/under for NFL win totals in 2012. They set the Titans number at 7. While I think that number is low, I can understand why it is there. The Titans had two big holes to fill in the offseason, pass rush and interior line, and from an outsiders perspective it probably looks like they only did a decent job addressing those needs.
Think about it this way, the only defensive ends that are on this roster that were not when the season ended are Kamerion Wimbley and Scott Solomon. While Wimbley is a clear upgrade, there are some questions regarding how he will hold up as a 4-3 defensive end.
Steve Hutchinson is clearly an upgrade to the interior of the line, but Eugene Amano is still the center. The Titans brought in every NFL center with a pulse but were not able to sign any of them. Vegas probably views that as a huge minus.
There is also the fact that the Titans face a brutal 2012 schedule that starts off with an especially tough September.
Two Hours with Tim Shaw and Matt Hasselbeck
Ok first let me say this, if it comes off as a fluff piece, I am sorry. I like this stuff though. I like learning more about the men on the field, and off. That said, I was shocked by how cool both these guys were. I knew Tim Shaw and I would have some things to talk about as we are both strong Christians (leave comments about religion out of this please). However I had no clue I would be able to carry on a real conversation with both men so easily. Now I must say, I valet park part time and have for years just for the fun, exercise, ability to drive cool cars, and the extra blow money (not actually used on blow), so I get to meet a bunch of celebrities here in Nashville. Thus I am not completely star struck but at the same time, I kind of was, as obviously I care more about the Titans than I do country music. That said, it was kind of cool eating dinner 2 tables away from Reese Witherspoon Friday night though. I am not trying to tell all this as a "look how cool it was for me" but more as an attempt to allow everyone a glimpse into these two players. I feel like it strengthens the bond to the team when you know more about the men on the field. I am very thankful I went and got this first hand insight. Also, this is my best attempt at accurate paraphrasing as I did not record nor write down the actual conversations, I hope that is clear. I wasn’t there for an interview, but after reflecting on the night, I thought I would share.

Your 2012-2013 Titans: 16-0 or 0-16?
It's that time of year again- the dreaded offseason. OTAs are starting up, but news does not circulate much. What does fill the minds of all football fans is one thing: speculation. With every offseason comes months of speculation. How is your favorite team going to fare this upcoming season? 12-4? 9-7? 8-8? 3-13? Most sensible people will mark their teams with a favorable record of 9-7 or better. And honestly, every team has the potential to be a 16-0 team. All professional football players have the talent to build a championship caliber team. However, this can all change. There are too many possible scenarios to fathom how a season will go; nevertheless, we all speculate how our teams will compete. We can speculate all we want, but there is no way that we can predict our beloved Tennessee Titans' 2012-2013 season because of the surprises, the disappointments, and the uncontrollable.

Kendall Wright & "Space Players"
Earth-shattering analysis: Kendall Wright was brought in to improve this offense, hopefully vaulting it into elite territory. Here's where it gets a bit more interesting though. Perhaps no receiver prospect in this recent draft can impact the offense in as many different ways as Wright. Before we go further, let's define the "space player." For that, I'll turn it over to Chris Brown of SmartFootball & Grantland.com:
These naturally gifted players need just a little bit of open territory to operate, and when they get it they incinerate defenses. They operate in the area between the short dive up the middle and the long bomb down the sideline. They are "space players."
Players like Sproles, on the other hand, just need a glimpse of open field, created either by defensive alignments or the coach's schemes, and once there they thrive. They are looking for creases between defenders and one-on-one situations against guys unable to cover them.
In coaching the Saints, Payton takes advantage of the three best ways to use space players. First are screen passes — plays designed to get the runner into open space, preferably with blockers ahead of him. Second is the space player's role as an underneath receiver, where he provides an easy option for a quarterback while drawing coverage away from downfield receivers. And, finally, a space player can be a runner on draws and sweeps after the earlier plays have forced the defense to substitute favorable (for the offense) personnel.
The question becomes "Is Kendall Wright a space player?"

Titans Agree to Terms with Taylor Thompson and Scott Solomon
In case you missed it last night, the Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with both Taylor Thompson and Scott Solomon. That leaves Kendall Wright as the lone unsigned draft pick. There is no reason to think his deal will not get done in the next couple of days.
It is going to be really interesting to watch Thompson in camp this year. While he isn't completely new to the tight end position, he played it in high school, there is no doubt it is going to take him some time to get up to speed to playing the position in the NFL. That doesn't mean he won't put up huge numbers in the preseason. His playing time in those games will come against guys that will not end up making an NFL roster. Thompson should have a field day in those match-ups.
DaJohn Harris Has A Hole In His Heart, Doesn't Give A Hoot.
Good morning MCM, I should start by apologizing for recent tardiness. Exams and the start of our own OTA's up in Baltimore have got me literally passing out at my desk lately. However, I'm going to make an effort to become more consistent, starting with today.
How much of a badass is DaJohn Harris? This guy is out there in mid-May heat battling for his dream job only weeks after being skipped over by every team in the business seven times, and he's doing it all with a hole in his heart. I don't care how many times I hear that over the next few days, it is never going to get old. DaJohn Harris is officially this year's OTA superstar.
Best Or Worse Week 1: Safeties
Welcome to Best or Worse where I will be discussing the best and worst case scenarios for the upcoming season for each position group.
Today I will be talking about safeties. This is an interesting group for the Titans. They have Michael Griffin, who despite the hate, may have some of the best natural talent in the league, but can also look more lost at times than Tim Tebow in a pro style offense.
Besides Griffin they also have Jordan "Big Play" Babineaux, Robert Johnson, Markelle Martin, Christian Scott, and Al Afalava. Babineaux is very average, Johnson hasn't impressed the coach's enough to play yet, Martin is a guy with a lot of upside, but won't be ready to start this year, and Scott and Afalava are just extra bodies. The Titans will also probably add a veteran to the mix and have shown interest in a few guys who ended up choosing other teams.
Obviously there is a fair amount of upside in this group, but can will all the pieces fall into place for a dominant duo, or will Griffin and Babineaux continue to wallow in the depths of mediocrity.
