Owings Mills, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Ravens placed starting right guard Marshal Yanda on injured reserve Tuesday, effectively ending the second-year player's season.
Yanda, who suffered an injury to his right knee in Sunday's 31-3 drubbing to the Indianapolis Colts, is expected to have surgery soon.
The third-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft started 12 games as a rookie a season ago and all five affairs for the 2-3 Ravens this year.
Also being placed on the IR is rookie linebacker Tavares Gooden, who is suffering from a hip injury.
In other Ravens news, the club signed tight end Edgar Jones and wide receiver Ernie Wheelright to the active roster, while adding defensive back Derrick Roberson and offensive guard Brian Johnson to the practice squad.
