Colts banged up at running back

Sports Network | October 13, 2008

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy was unsure if running back Joseph Addai would be ready to practice this week after leaving Sunday's game with a hamstring injury and added that rookie Mike Hart could be sidelined for awhile with a knee injury.

Addai was hurt in the first quarter of Sunday's 31-3 rout of the Baltimore Ravens, gaining just three yards on two carries before exiting the contest.

"Joe's got a little hamstring tweak," Dungy said Monday. "Don't know how that's going be and how that will play out this week."

However, Hart's injury, which occurred in the second quarter, could force the team to explore further options at running back.

"It looks like it could be significant," Dungy remarked. "It looks like it's going to be awhile."

The injuries forced Dominic Rhodes to carry the workload on Sunday. He ran for 73 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries.

Rhodes, a Super Bowl hero from two years ago, rejoined the Colts this spring after spending the 2007 campaign with the Oakland Raiders.

In five games this season, Addai has run for 216 yards and four touchdowns with a 3.5-yard average. Rhodes, who split time in the backfield with Addai in 2006, has 104 yards and a score on 32 carries this year.
