Report: Al Davis ready to fire Kiffin

Sports Network | September 22, 2008

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis is reportedly prepared to fire second-year head coach Lane Kiffin, perhaps as soon as Monday.

According to a report on FOXSports.com, Kiffin has been informed of the impending move, which comes after the Raiders allowed 17 points in the final eight minutes of Sunday's 24-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The setback dropped the Raiders to 1-2.

Kiffin guided the Raiders to a 4-12 mark in his first season.

Prior to leading the Raiders, Kiffin, the son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, was an offensive coach under head coach Pete Carroll at USC from 2001 to 2006, the last two seasons spent as the offensive coordinator for the Trojans.
