Tennessee Titans Morning Links: For The Truth Shall Set You Free Edition
Chris Johnson ripped-off almost 200 yards on the ground against the Texans in week 2, and this time around he's looking to ditch the 'almost' in that statement. If he has another game like that on the Monday Night stage, you're going to see him become on of the most popular players in the league. I'd guess if he breaks 180 his jersey sales will hit top 5 by the Cardinals game.
Ok, so you remember how Texans owner Bob McNair called their week 2 victory 'The biggest win in franchise history'? (That's cute isn't it?) Well I'm starting to feel bad about that, because should our boys stomp them Monday Night it's almost like we would have made all their dreams come to life, then slayed them as quickly as they came... just like that line in Laid to Rest, by Lamb of God! Took the long way around for the set-up to this week's Friday Tasty Jam.
The Big Marine, Ahmard Hall, came up with a very fitting nickname for Vince Young as he heads back to his hometown looking to cement his resurgence:
Mayor of Houston
No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No. Somebody tell Fisher that we don't care about the past three years because we're in the now now. Everything that's happening now, is happening now. We can't go back to then. Why? Because we passed it. When? Just now! ( FYI: I have to bring that quote out twice a year. It's in my contract.)

Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Vince Young And Chris Johnson Will Take You Higher Edition
The great part about having a talent like Chris Johnson on the roster is that when things are clicking, you could pretty much tell the defense what play is coming, and often enough they wouldn't be able to stop it:
As NFL analyst Rich Gannon visited San Francisco 49ers defensive coaches prior to their Nov. 8 game against the Titans, it didn't take him long to figure out their chief concern.
Protect the edges. Don't let Chris Johnson get to the outside.
"Then," Gannon said, "on the first play from scrimmage Johnson gets the ball and runs to the outside for (14) yards.''
Chris Johnson is at number 8 on PFW's MVP Meter... behind Adrian Peterson?
If Mario Williams wants back in the spotlight, then he better not try lining up against Michael Roos, because Roos has completely owned the former no. 1 draft pick his whole career. WHile Williams has had flashes of success against us, it's never come one on one against Roos.
Must read article of the day: The AP polled 160 players (almost 10% of the league) with various questions about concussions and related issues. The results are fascinating and a little scary.

Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Same Vince Young, New Mentality Edition
On Sunday, Chris Johnson said that the team's goal is to try and win 10 straight to close out the year. The Texans, of course, are trying to psyche themselves up by pretending that's a shot at them. Now, I know our guys have been guilty of creating the impression of being disrespected to build motivation (see weeks 1-14 last year), but this just seems pretty ridiculous. What player in the NFL right now isn't trying to run the table for the rest of the year? I can garauntee you even St. Louis Rams back-up players have the same goal.
Indefatigable reader/commenter JimR points us towards this link from when Jeff Fisher was on The Coach's Show with Steve Mariuci. Coach made a great statement about Vince Young's progress:
"There’s a different person wearing number 10,"
And as we banter back and forth with fans from around the league, be sure to keep in mind that pretty much none of them have seen the new and improved Vince Young (or the revitalized front four, for that matter)... yet!
Bravo for this article on Bud Adams, and where he should have directed his double barrel salutation:
But here's the question about Adams: Why isn't he in the Hall of Fame?
... Next year should be Adams' turn. And if he doesn't get it he ought to be spared the fine if he decides to give Hall voters his next one-finger salute.
The Texans have won the last two games against us (though you can argue we game planned more for the Hall of Fame Game this year than that game last year, as we had the no. 1 seed in the bag), and that may be just enough to consider this a rivalry rather than the one-sided beatdown it was before now. Prior to last season's loss the Titans had won seven straight contests.

Tennessee Titans Morning Links: I Thought This Was America !!?!?! Edition
Vince Young is certainly in a groove these days, and we're going to need him to improve on that if we're going to win Monday night and get some revenge for the debacle that was the first game against the Texans this season.
I don't need a link to remind everyone that Bud Adams getting fined $250,000 is beyond stupid. When I think about this now, all I can hear is a drunk Randy Marsh from South Park yelling I thought this was America!??!!!
VY's improved passing is surpassed only by his improved decision making, which has won Jeff Fisher over during the last three games.
Trent Dilfer says there isn't much of a separation, but he'd take Adrian Peterson over Chris Johnson. Of course he fails to give much of a reason (teams don't fear Chris Johnson enough. REALLY!!?!)... hell, I'd take 'I just love that stupid Nike commercial where AP has skin reminiscent of a soccer ball and it's supposed to be intimidating' at this point, just give us something. I just don't like Trent Dilfer, and I'm pretty sure I never will. No one person represents that 2001 Ravens team more than that weepy hack.

Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Maybe The Crowd Was Just Chanting 'Freebird' Edition
Der Commish was in the box with Bud Adams, and later on in the stands, at Sunday's game. I guess we're to assume that Goodell wasn't in the box when Bud let this double eagle salute fly. You can already hear the fun police coming down on Bud, but I personally thought it was pretty funny (as long as it stays an aberration). I'm sure he'll be fined, and I'm sure he'll never miss the money.
Vince Young's approach, mechanics and body language are a complete revelation this year and truly fun to watch. Combine that with the 3 game win streak, and Vince is garnering a lot of the respect he didn't get his first three seasons in the NFL.
Chris Johnson is the best running back in the NFL. Don't believe me? Still think it's Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson has just had a few nice weeks this year? Check-out their career numbers through their first year and a half in the NFL:
| Player | Attempts | Yards | YPA | TDs |
| Johnson | 395 | 2,187 | 5.54 | 15 |
| Peterson | 414 | 2,164 | 5.23 | 18 |
Boom. Pan seared.

Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Stumbling Around Drunk On Burgundy Wine Edition
Jim Wyatt takes a long look back at the play that defined the Titans in Nashville and gave this blog its namesake.
Speaking of namesakes, here's where I got mine: Wharf Rat by the Grateful Dead!
Nick Harper was cleared for contact yesterday, but it's still unclear if he'll be active for Sunday's game since he hasn't hit anyone in a month and simply isn't as good as the guy he'll displace...

Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Bring Out Your Jersey Jokes Edition
A few weeks ago Tony Brown was the only defensive lineman who was playing as well or better than he did last year, but now you can add William Hayes to that list. Hayes has been stellar since replacing Jevon Kearse. His quick ascension from raw D-II prospect to the starter picked to unseat a former legend just further validates the notion of Jim Washburn as one of the league's best D-line coaches.
Chris Johnson, who recently ate lunch at Swett's with Faith Hill, has had some quite tame TD celebrations this year compared to last year (think bongos), but that's all on account of our crappy record, he says:
"We’ve been 0-6, and there’s been no reason to celebrate. I can’t go play no bongos or nothing like that if we’re 0-6," Johnson said. "The more wins we get, the more things that they’ll get. I had a lot of things planned this year, but we didn’t start off like how we wanted to start off, so ain’t nobody seen none of them."
But if the Titans keep winning, Johnson is ready to jazz things up.
"I feel like if we can get a victory this week, and next week then something will be coming very soon," Johnson said.
Then just when you want to get mad at CJ for not being professional enough he makes you remember that he's a competitor who respects his opponents until they completely fail to stop him:
Johnson said he’s not taking the Bills lightly.
"We’re 2–6. We can’t look and say they got the worst run defense. We have to prepare like it is a playoff game,’’ he said. "You lick your chops but you know they are going to give you their 100 percent because they know we like to run the ball and are going to try and run it.’’

Tennessee Titans Morning Links: Thank You To Our Real Veterans Edition
Gotta love KSK
What better way to start off the Veteran's Day links than with a story about the Titans' own veteran of military service, Ahmard Hall. Hall served in the Marines in Kosovo and Afghanistan before walking on to the Texas Longhorns team upon his return. We can't thank Ahmard Hall and every other veteran for the US Military enough for their bravery and sacrifice for this nation, so perhaps the best we can do is never forget that they're the backbone of everything good in our lives. Without our veterans we wouldn't have the freedoms we enjoy today.
Jim Trotter of SI.com makes his prediction for the second half of the season, and he's predicting a continued marriage between Vince Young and the Titans after the season ends:
3. Vince Young will be the Titans' QB beyond this season.
... Young looks as if he has been humbled and hardened after being relegated to the sidelines the final 15 games last season and the first six games this year. He always has had a way of rallying teammates, and he'll do it again by leading the Titans to four to six wins in their final eight games (which means six to eight wins in his 10 starts).
If you missed the debacle excitement last night , head on over here to check-out a preview of the upcoming game by Jimmy, Buffalo Rumblings and myself.
