Tennessee Titans Morning Links: You're Being Very Un-Dude Edition
8-0 just isn't good enough for some folks: and I'm not talking about the haters.
In related news: You want to know how you become the quietest 8-0 team in history? Bring in football players, not clowns:
"We don't have a Terrell Owens," he said. "We don't have a Chad Johnson. We don't have Tony Romo dating superstars. We just have a bunch of guys that play hard and work hard."
Boom King and Bulluck aren't sure things to take the field in Chicago on Sunday. Should that happen, my reaction would almost certainly be very, very un-Dude.
We can add the Packers to the quickly growing Crazy Legs man-crush list.
After a pretty cushy schedule so far which featured all of our tough games at home, the Titans are embarking on a much tougher stretch of road games in the second half.
Thanks to studious commenter hartley for passing along this link: The NFL is saying we've been bumped up in the new 'flex scheduling', but I like to describe it as the league 'bowing down' because, well... that's how I roll.
Analysts continue to underestimate our offensive line, but the opposition knows just how good these guys are at every discipline there is in the trenches.
Some cat named (no giggling) Luke DeCock at the News & Observer in North Carolina makes the best point about the Titans that nobody has really stopped to consider yet:5. They’re only going to get better as the weather gets worse. The Titans are a classic run-and-defend operation. They don’t have any high-flying aerial fireworks to be disrupted by winter snow and wind — not with Kerry Collins throwing the ball.
Gary Estwick gets into the election day spirit by polling internet cowboys (and cowgirls) about various categories of Titans players.
University of Kentucky stand-out Rafael Little is coming off of the non-football injury reserve list for a 3 week evaluation, but I don't really see a scenario where he gets a roster spot since we have 4 pretty well entrenched RBs already.
Prolific commenter Rustmeister passes along his thoughts on last Sunday's win.

NFL Notes: Terrell Owens Controversy Again, Lane Kiffin Fired
T.O. is at is again. After the Cowboys lost to the Redskins on Sunday, T.O. basically blamed the loss on Tony Romo for not getting T.O. the ball more. He left out that he was targeted for 20 plays (18 times thrown to with 7 catches and 2 rushing attempts), and that he dropped a couple of those passes. T.O. is a great receiver, and very important to the success of a few of my fantasy football teams, but I have no idea why anyone would want him on their team. What he brings on the field is not worth what he brings off of it.
Al Davis finally fired Lane Kiffin, and as only Davis would do, told him over the phone. On top of that, he informed Kiffin that he would not pay him the rest of his contract. Anyone who takes that job deserves what they get. The Raiders will not be relevant again until Davis is no longer in control of the team.
The Rams also fired Scott Linehan. I don't understand how a team that has Marc Bulger, Torry Holt and Steven Jackson can be so bad. Hey Jacob Bell and Drew Bennett, I hope you are enjoying yourself out there.
As was mentioned yesterday, thoughts and prayers go out to Richard Collier. It was announced yesterday the he is paralyzed from the waist down and had to get his left leg amputated. Stuff like this reminds you how trivial football is.
The Pittsburgh Steelers walk away from last night's game having lost rookie running back Rashard Mendenhall and starting right guard Kendall Simmons. That game last night was one of the most physical games I have seen in a while.
Two site things: Does anyone want to be in charge of looking up the different power rankings from around the web and writing a post about them? Let me know if you are interested.
And here is the poll that was asked for..

2009 NFL Free Agents
If the Titans don't take my advice about acquiring Jason Taylor and Anquan Boldin, there are plenty of quality free agents to be had after this season. Here are the ones the Titans should look at targeting (in order of importance):
1. Terrell Owens Roy Williams
Owens is a free agent, but I would rather line up offensive lineman at receiver than have him on the Titans. Williams is the perfect receiver for Vince Young. The Titans should back up the Brinks truck to his door.
2. T.J. Houshmandzadeh
Williams is a better fit for VY, but getting Housh would be a huge upgrade to the Titans receiving core. If both of these guys do end up being free agents, there is really no excuse for the Titans not to get one of them.
3. Tommie Harris
I don't think I have to tell you how good a defensive line that featured Albert Haynesworth and Harris would be. Teams would have to throw on every down.
4. Julius Peppers/Will Smith
Adding either one of these guys would greatly upgrade the Titans pass rush.
Obviously the Titans will not have the cap room to add all of these guys, but if they could get 2 of them it would make them an instant Super Bowl contender. The bonus to getting these guys would be that the Titans wouldn't have to give up any draft picks.
