Terry McCormick: "#Titans now working to bring back defensive lineman Jason Jones. Talks in preliminary stages at this point"

Very interesting. I like the move if he can be gotten for a reasonable price.

Team Needs: DE, OG, DB. Can Matt Hasselbeck hold off 2011 No. 1 pick Jake Locker as the starting QB? We know it takes an elite QB to win big, and while Hasselbeck had a solid season, Locker has the better chance to eventually take the Titans to the top. The interior O-line needs to be bolstered to help Chris Johnson. Offensively, the Titans will continue to get emerging TE Jared Cook more involved. The Titans have major potential free agents in the secondary with CB Cortland Finnegan and S Michael Griffin. Don't expect them to meet Finnegan's lofty demands, but they likely will franchise Griffin, then look for more secondary help. The pass rush must improve, so DE Derrick Morgan needs to step up. A high draft pick is a possibility here.

LOLOL.

The Titans have hired Jonathan Gannon to serve as the team’s defensive quality control coach.

With the hire, former defensive quality control coach Arthur Smith will move to offensive quality control coach. Smith will fill the void left by Charles London, who left the Titans to become Penn State’s running backs coach in January.

Gannon spent the last three seasons as a scout for the St. Louis Rams. He’s served as a defensive quality control coach once before, with Atlanta in 2007.

Regarding the quarterback situation, Webster says Locker will get a real chance in preseason and training camp to win the starting job, something the GM says last year's first-round pick has earned.

"Jake showed enough during the season to warrant a chance to win the job and he’ll have a good shot to do that. He’s a very talented player. He brings a lot of excitement to the game, and we are as excited as you are about bringing him out there. It’ll be a good competition. It won’t just be Matt’s job, and Matt knows that. The best man will win."

This is an old story, but it has the only picture I can find. For the superbowl, Indianapolis has placed an IndyCar decorated in each NFL teams colors around the city. The Titans car is in the heart of downtown, which is damn near impossible to get around. If I make it down there, I'll be sure to post an image of it. Until then, this link has a photogallery that shows the car up close.

The Tennessee Titans named Nate Kaczor Assistant Offensive Line coach.

Kaczor joins the Titans after spending four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars as Assistant Special Teams coach. He replaces Art Valero, who left the coaching staff earlier this month.

*** cool?

The Tennessee Titans named Keith Millard Defensive Assistant/Pass Rush Specialist and Steve Brown Assistant Secondary Coach.

***Apparently no one told me they were added until MCM radio last night... but they will save us all.

Because Billy Cundiff exists, Ravens fans don't have to come to terms with the fact that one of the best rushing teams ceded the turf to one of the worst. Or that they could only turn three New England turnovers into six points. Or that their offensive line turned to soggy swiss cheese at the merest whiff of Vince Wilfork.

Because Kyle Williams exists, 49ers fans don't have to grasp that their offense went 1-for-13 on third down, the one being a pointless hail mary at the end of regulation. Or that they all but gave up after halftime on what had been an effective run game. Or that the vaunted San Francisco D didn't force a single turnover, and had no answer for Victor Cruz.

*** Cold. Hard. Facts.
