2017 is the first year that compensatory picks are eligible to be traded. Nick Korte of OverTheCap.com is projecting that the Titans will receive a 3rd round pick from the Rams as part of the Jared Goff trade last year. The Rams will be receiving that pick because they lost Janoris Jenkins in free agency. He was signed by the New York Giants last offseason.
If this is the way it plays out, it would give the Titans 3 picks in the 3rd round. They already have the Rams 3rd round pick from the Goff trade. That means the Titans would have 5 picks in the first three rounds, with 2 in the first and 3 in the third.
Correction: The Titans will receive the Rams compensatory selection, but not their normal third round selection. The compensation pick is projected to be a third rounder.
You better believe that Jon Robinson will be looking to leverage some of those picks to move around in the draft. Don’t be surprised if he ends up moving down with one of the first round picks to pick up a second round pick that they currently don’t have.
