Mike Mularkey announced today that Matt Cassel would get the start on Sunday against the Houston Texans, as expected. Cassel will be filling in for Marcus Mariota, who suffered a broken fibula last weekend in Jacksonville.
Mariota will be out four to five months, per Mularkey.
To fill Mariota’s spot, the Titans have called up Alex Tanney. Tanney will serve as Cassel’s backup on Sunday.
Tanney is a guy that’s shown a little something in limited preseason action, but has been stuck on the practice squad all season long.
Mularkey insisted that the Titans want to win this game on Sunday. He said everything starts with him and that the whole team was frustrated. He also hinted at some youth getting more opportunities in the finale, so that may be something to keep an eye on.
