Paul Kuharsky and John Glennon both led off their training camp report from day 1 with how solid Marcus Mariota looked in his debut. Kuharsky's report included this quote from Delanie Walker that makes me feel happy all over:
"You could tell he was training this offseason, really in the playbook," tight end Delanie Walker said. "He called the huddle with poise, said the plays like he knew them, ran the offense very well. That’s exciting to see when you’ve got a young quarterback coming in and ready to go."
Both of the articles I linked include Mariota's stat line for the day. As I said on Twitter, I cannot wait for the day where we aren't worried about the quarterback's stat line in practice.
Other notes of interest:-Kendall Wright is clearly the team's #1 receiver (no surprise), but it was Hakeem Nicks who lined up with him for most of the day...not Justin Hunter or Harry Douglas.
-Byron Bell and Jeremiah Poutasi rotated with the first team at right tackle. That is going to be an interesting battle to watch.
-The other interesting battle to watch is at running back. Bishop Sankey got the first carries today, but there was a lot of Antonio Andrews and David Cobb (who switched to #23) as well.
-Blidi Wreh-Wilson struggled (shocking!). It is only a matter of time before Perrish Cox is the starter.
