Today we kick off a new series about the Tennessee Titans with a comparison of the quarterback position from 2014 to 2015. Did the Titans improve at quarterback? Let's take a look.
2014 QBs: Jake Locker, Charlie Whitehurst, Zach Mettenberger
2015 QBs: Marcus Mariota, Zach Mettenberger, Charlie Whitehurst
The quarterback position has been a disaster for this franchise for a decade. They haven't had the same guy lead them in passing yards in back to back seasons since Vince Young did it in 2006 and 2007. That really tells the whole story. The hope, obviously, is that all of that chances with the drafting of Mariota.
Did they improve?
There isn't a definitive answer to this question yet. Mariota was drafted to save this franchise, but we really don't know if he can do that yet. You can make the argument that Mettenberger is better after spending a year in the NFL, in Ken Whisenhunt's system and after getting some valuable starting experience under his belt. So there is slight improvement there, but the Titans are hoping that it goes a lot higher than that.
