At this point, the roster is essentially set for the 2015 Tennessee Titans. With the waves of free agency over and the 2015 NFL Draft complete, the only thing left to do is figure out what holes you need to plug and figure out the best player to fill that need.
I just posted a story about what Dwight Freeney could do for the Tennessee Titans and looking over the names of available free agents prodded me to make a list of the top five players left in free agency that could still make a difference to this team.
Here are the top players who can be contributors:
1. Dwight Freeney, EDGE
2. Reggie Wayne, WR
While he may be showing his age, but he was still a nearly 800-yard receiver next year and this team lacks a true veteran voice in the wide receiver locker room. Give Dorial Green-Beckham someone to be mentored by and set him up with someone that knows how to be successful.
3. Red Bryant, DT
Bryant wasn't a force against the pass last year, but he absolutely knew how to stop a runner. Put him opposite Jurrell Casey (or even at nose tackle) and let the guys behind him do the work on passing downs.
4. James Jones, WR
While Jones hasn't had the career of Reggie Wayne, he may actually be a better on the field signing. Jones led his team in receptions and touchdowns last year and was a go-to target of rookie quarterback Derek Carr last year.
5. Pierre Thomas, RB
Thomas is something that the Titans do not have: A proven 3-down running back who still has something left in the tank. Let him show the David Cobb and Bishop Sankey how to preform and how to stay in for an entire series and then give Shonn Greene the boot.
All of these players could make an impact on the Titans one way or another, and I would be shocked if all of them are not in the NFL this year in some capacity.
