Kamerion Wimbley (17 tackles, 2 sacks)
Wimbley was transitioned back to his native 3-4 OLB role when Ray Horton came to town in 2014, with the expectation that is would springboard his performance. It has almost the opposite effect, and the former defensive end posted his second straight poor season. Even after restructuring a bloated contract , he is owed almost $3 million, and can be considered as good as gone for the 2015 season.
Derrick Morgan (Free Agent) (63 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles)
After the complete meltdown of the important position in 2014, Morgan was left as the last man standing, and the only one to make a positive impact. He finished the year ranked as the NFL's No. 8 3-4 OLB per Pro Football Focus. Morgan's price tag could rise with a lack of productive 3-4 OLB's around the league, even with only a single year of stand-up experience. With the cupboard bare at OLB, the Titans need Morgan back, and they have already intimated as much. I expect them to get the job done.
Quentin Groves (Free Agent) (16 tackles, 1 sack)
When Shaun Phillips was cut mid season and Akeem Ayers was traded, there was little left at OLB save for newly signed Quentin Groves. Groves had experience with Ray Horton from their days in Cleveland, but he was best used as a special teams contributor than a starter. Like Morgan, he is a free agent after having signed a one year deal. Unlike Morgan, the Titans are likely not desperate to bring him back.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All in all the Titans have a severe need at outside linebacker, with only a single player even under contract for 2015. Ruston Webster and company will need to hit the position hard after failing to address it last season with the defensive scheme shift. Another flop at OLB could spell disaster again for the Tennessee Titans defense.
