What Irrational Move Would You Make?

Today I am going to channel my inner "jlomas" and say some crazy speculative type things. Only, that's the point of this fanpost.

I was thinking about what crazy things I wouldn't mind seeing the Titans do, mostly involving trades and draft picks.

So I'm going to post 3 absolutely off the wall, crazy, never-gonna-happen things that I would be ecstatic to see happen (well, happy in some form at least). I will say why I would like it, why it makes sense (they won't make sense), and why it won't happen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

***DISCLAIMER: I am not endorsing the Titans making any of these moves nor am I suggesting they could happen, it is purely for entertainment purposes only.***

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Move #1: Titans trade their 2014 1st, 2nd, 4th round picks, and 2015 1st round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for SS Eric Berry.

Why I would like this: I am a Tennessee Vols fan, post-Peyton Manning. I did not understand football back in the Manning era. So my favorite Vol of all time is Eric Berry by a mile. But besides all this, Eric Berry is an elite safety in this league. He has the ball-hawking skills like Troy Polamalu and an in-his-prime Ed Reed with the hard-hitting skills like Bernard Pollard. He does play SS, which is the position Pollard occupies, but I have no doubts Berry would find his way onto the field and play at an elite level.

Why it makes sense: Berry would very likely become the fan favorite, and would provide ~10 years of elite play at safety.

Why it doesn't make sense: The team needs those draft picks, and Berry will command a huge contract when it is time to restructure. Pushes someone out of the starting lineup.

Percent chance it happens: 0%. If Berry ever became a free agent, I have no doubts we'd be interested. Otherwise, KC isn't going to trade an elite safety and probably won't let him hit the market either.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Move #2: Titans trade up in the draft (for all intents and purposes, let's say to spot #5) to select South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney. This costs them their 1st rounder this year, as well as their 2nd/5th, and a 2nd/6th rounder next season.

Why I would like this: I am in the minority here, but I believe Clowney is going to be a stud in the NFL. If you add Jadeveon Clowney to this team, and pair him alongside Casey and Morgan, along with newcomer Shaun Phillips ... your pass rush goes from average to borderline elite.

Why it makes sense: Again, the pass rush becomes one of the league's best in the blink of an eye. I think Clowney could fit in any system, and Ray Horton's defense is no exception. It never hurts to add the best defensive player to come out of college in years.

Why it doesn't make sense: The nega-Clowney-ers will scream "BUST" is written all over him due to concern about work ethic, injuries, etc. They are legitimate concerns and although I believe Clowney will be a stud, there is always the possibility he isn't. Losing all those draft picks to have a bad-Clowney would set the roster back big time. Too many other spots that could be filled with those draft picks.

Percent chance it happens: 4%. I don't think the Titans will rule out anything draft wise, both trading up and trading down. But I doubt with the lack of draft picks that they would pull the trigger on a move like this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Move #3: Titans trade their 2014 2nd round pick for Ravens K Justin Tucker.

Why I would like this move: Justin Tucker is a beast of a kicker. It is a shame he plays for the Ratbirds. We now need a kicker, and although it makes much much much more sense to pick one up as an UDFA, Tucker would come in and start from day 1 and provide elite kicking. With the possibility of moving the extra points back, this would matter not to Tucker as he has shown the ability to boot 60+ yard field goals in crunch situations.

Why it makes sense: It doesn't really make sense to give up such a high pick for someone who kicks a ball (unless you're the Jaguars lolol), but Tucker is one of the best in the league and would easily make Titans fans forget about Bironas (not really). Picking up an UDFA could be risky if they end up sucking. And the thought of Maikon Bonani being the kicker is also scary.

Why it doesn't make sense: You don't give up a 2nd rounder for a kicker. If you do, you're likely a Super Bowl team who needs nothing but a kicker and have extra picks to spare. The Titans aren't in that situation. While it's possible the kicker they pick up in UDFA is horrible in the end, there's just as good of a chance they strike gold.

Percent chance it happens: 0%. Ain't gon' happen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So there you have it. What do you think of these ideas? Stupid as all heck? Yeah, they are. But that's ok, that's the point of this lomas-esque post.

Feel free in the comments below to post your own crazy situation that you'd like to see happen.

Have a terrible day, GO VOLS!
