Most mock drafts have the Titans taking a pass rusher with Anthony Barr being the top pick. A few have them taking Khalil Mack and some with Taylor Lewan (OT). Well every year the expert always get it wrong when it comes to the Titans. Remember the year they pick Kendall Wright? Not one mock draft predicted the Titans taking Wright or any WR for that matter. This year will be the same. Who will the Titans take (IMO)? I'm not sure yet but I'm betting it will be a QB. Why a QB after all the support the front office gave to Locker? Because they know it’s the biggest need on this team. 1. Locker is still in a walking boot - no way to tell how this injury will affect his play when/if he becomes ready for contact. 2. Fitzpatrick will be released - Too expensive for a backup (written prior to his release) 2. The AFC south division will all have relatively new faces at QB - Luck is already in place in Indy, Houston has the 1st pick while Jacksonville has the 3rd and they both need QBs. 3. Locker didn't play enough to be considered an "experienced" QB - So that kills the argument of why go to a rookie when you have a young experienced guy already in place. 4. Is Locker injury prone? - Just the fact that there is a question there means it’s hard to trust that he'll stay healthy. No way Whiz goes into his first year as HC with the Titans without an "answer" at the QB position. 5. Whisenhunt was fired from Arizona because after Kurt Warner retired, he couldn't find a replacement. - He won't make that mistake again. Whiz will find his guy in this draft. Most mocks have only three QBs taken in the 1st. I think it'll be more simply because there are more viable options this year. Another thing to consider is, if Jake Locker was in this draft, where would he rank? Based on his college production and career completion percentage, I have 7 maybe 8 QB’s being drafted before him with all 8 having much better production and higher completion percentages than him. All of these guys would be better options than Jake. 1. Teddy Bridgewater 2. Johnny Manziel 3. Blake Bortles 4. Derek Carr 5. Zach Mettenberger 6. A.J. McCarron 7. Jimmy Garoppolo 8. David Fales The year Locker came out, the QBs taken after him were Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick with the last two taken in the 2nd round. This year's class of QB's is much stronger than that years and we could see up to 5 QB taken in the first round. Whiz won't pass on an opportunity to draft a guy that can run his offense. The 11th pick is reserved for Whiz's QB and it was probably one of the selling points for him even coming to Tennessee.
