LET'S BE REAL FOLKS

As much as I want to be excited about our win, I can not get over the fact that we almost lost in the last minutes of the game, against one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Great teams finish games strong, they do not let a defeated opponent back into the game. Not two weeks in a row. I do think we have some great individual players with strong leadership, playing skills and a championship attitude. Unfortunately, we do not have enough and not at that right positions.

Given this realty, we should use the rest of this season to take stock of where we have the greatest deficiencies and be ready to fill those gaps during the off season.

1) we do not have the answer at the quarterback position. As much as I respect Jake's leadership and effort, he is too inconsistent and too injury prone. Whitehurst also has challenges with consistency, particularly when there is any pressure.

2) our offensive line has the potential to be top 5 in the league, but will take time to gel.

3) our defense has been very spotty and prone to mistakes and let downs in execution, particularly at critical moments in the game. This I believe is our team's greatest weakness. We should use the rest of the season to assess which players are consistenly executing, particularly in game critical situations.

4) I do think we have great personnel In our receiver corps and running backs

Bottom line - this season will be more about sorting the wheat from the chaff, and less about winning post season.
