This may very well be the right move, and I completely understand that the move to fire Munch will be a celebrated one on this site. This entire process in my estimation has shown the Titan ownership and FO to be one of a second rate caliber.
The Jake Locker issue remains prevalent. The kid has showed some promise, and remains our best option going forward at quarterback. Yet, he will be on his 3rd OC before he starts his 20th football game.
Munch did not draft Britt, did not cave into CJs demands, and limit himself with crappy roster moves from 08-11. That was Fisher and our FO. He also did not turn the ball over in critical spots in 2 games against INDY this season.
The roster/player development work that has been done over the past couple of years has in many ways gone to waste with this entire cleaning house.
A new coach with inconsistent QB play will surely lead to another firing of Ruston or whoever else.
Strong franchises and organizations do their research, make commitments to people, and then give people the ability to succeed. Munch/Dowell/Jake may have never been the right choices for the job, but they certainly were not given great opportunities to drive the process forward and really thrive.
I am excited to see who the team brings in, and certainly excited for next year, but this entire situation certainly does not seem particularly good.
