Tennessee Titans VP Lake Dawson says no to Miami Dolphins GM job.

Still not Lake Dawson - Jim McIsaac

The Titans will retain Lake Dawson.

Lake Dawson has turned down the Miami Dolphins GM job in favor of returning to Tennessee. Dawson has been highly sought after and has had many interviews for multiple GM jobs, but the Miami job looked like it was the most serious of the bunch. In fact, it turns out that the Miami Dolphins offered Dawson the job, and he turned it down,

It is Dawson's eighth year with the franchise, and his fourth year as the VP of Player Personnel. Dawson and Ruston Webster have worked closely together during his time as General Manager, and the tandem have brought in players like Ropati Pitoitua, Bernard Pollard, Justin Hunter, and Chance Warmack last year alone.

One report says that Dawson declined the job saying, "Their offer didn't align with my vision." This could be interpreted to mean that they weren't offering enough money, but I don't think that is it. I think the issue is more to do with having full control of the team's personnel decisions. Rumors have been going around that the Dolphins are not going to give their new GM full control, and they may have been a big factor in Dawson's decision.

Either way, it is great news for the Tennessee organization that Dawson will be with the Titans next year and can now focus on breaking down 2014 free agents and NFL Draft prospects.
