I saw this from smash the other day and it made me chuckle. The headline is silly. Of course the Titans want to start the season with a win, but just how important is this game? I think that it is one of the most important games this franchise has played in a long time.
There was a lot of momentum heading into last season. The Titans were coming off a surprising 9-7, and there was no reason to believe that they wouldn't improve in 2012. Then the first couple of weeks of the season happened and all hope was lost.
This year there is again hope. The Titans have re-done their offensive line, brought in a bunch of free agents who are going to play significant roles, and tailored to offense to fit Jake Locker. Those are all things that have us excited, but if they go up to Pittsburgh and lay an egg tomorrow, there will be a lot of the same feelings that people had last season.
Does that make the game tomorrow a must win? Of course not because calling any game in week 1 a must win is stupid, but this coaching staff and these players need something positive here to avoid the "here we go again feeling."
