The "National Football Post" had a very interesting article today, "The NFL's Top 25 Contract Year Players", by Jon Fortenbaugh. Here's the link.www.nationalfootballpost.com/The-NFPs-top-25-contractyear-players.html
Though I disagree with some of his rankings (#4 DE/OLB Anthony Spencer, #13 DE Justin Tuck, #20 3-4 DE Antonio Smith, and #21 RB Maurice Jones-Drew, because they're 30 or older, and some have injury issues), it's a good list of top potential 2014 FA's.
The only Titan on the list is WR Kenny Britt, at #23.
The most underrated player I see on this list is Panthers 4th year DE Greg Hardy (6'4", 290). He ran an "official" Combine 4.96-40, while injured, a month later he ran a Pro Day 4.79-40, while he still wasn't fully recovered from his injury, and while in college and fully healthy, he ran in the 4.6's. Hardy had 60 tackles, 11 sacks, and 23 QB pressures, last year. The Panthers may not be able to afford to Franchise Tag him, because they also need to extend QB Cam Newton's contract. He would be a great pass rushing FA DE pickup for the Titans, and it might help that he played at Ole Miss.
I also like Bengals Bengals 5th year, DE Michael Johnson (6'6 7/8", 270), #11 on the list, very much as a possible Titans 2014 FA signing. I love Johnson's 6'7" height, 11.5 sacks in 2012, and great speed (an "official" Combine 4.75-40, "unofficially" a 4.66-40, and a Pro Day 4.49-40, with a 1.56-10). He was Franchise Tagged this year, so it's very unlikely that they will tag him again, and they might also need to use their Franchise Tag on DT Geno Atkins. It might help that Johnson played his college ball in Atlanta, at Georgia Tech, though it might lead to a bidding war with the Falcons.
Take a look at the link, and let me know which of the players on the list (if any), that you might like to see the Titans pursue as a FA next year.
