My take and review on World War Z.
*SPOILER ALERT* I will be discussing the contents of the movie.
I really didn't like this movie at all. It was bad. The longer that it marinated after it was over, the more upset I got.
It was literally nothing like the book. Like at all. I was expecting a few similarities where you could at least say, "Hey they used that from the book." But there wasn't. Other than the climbing of the wall, the movie was nothing like the book. Max Brooks didn't deserve this. It is clear they took the name World War Z just to use the name. They should have just marketed this as a Brad Pitt Pandemic movie. That's basically all it was.It broke so many blatant rules from the books and it was just a slap in the face, really.
The best part about this being a zombie movie is that it wasn't at all a zombie movie. It was clearly a form of rabies. At no point in this movie do you see them feed or even really attack and maul. People brought in their little kids to see this movie. That is how tame it was. I was so, so disappointing. There was almost no blood, if any, and no gore. What the fuck? All you saw was a group of rabies infested people sprinting in a group like a plague and just wrecking shit. There weren't even any head-shot angles. This movie was so terrible. I really am upset at what they did to such an amazing book.
The story line wasn't even that good. All that really kept me interested was Brad Pitt. If he wasn't in this movie I may have walked out. Using illness as a camouflage was weak. It was an ok idea, but to make that your climax for the first movie was really bad. The script was terrible. I really hope the next ones are rated R or this might be the worst zombie franchise ever. Wait till DVD. You will thank me.
