NFL Free Agency 2013: Jared Cook Rumors

Stay connected for news and updates

Jim Brown-US PRESSWIRE

One writer suggests that Jared Cook could get $8-10 million a year on the open market. That is crazy, but it is probably true.

We have spent a lot of time this week debating the Jared Cook situation. In case you have been under a rock, we have speculated since the end of the season that the Titans would tag him. They ultimately decided not to after his agent said they were going to challenge the designation as a tight end. The difference would have been about $4.5 million against the cap this season.

There is no doubt he is going to get plenty of attention on the open market, and Armando Salguero of the Miami Hearld speculates that he could end up getting $8-10 million a year. That was an absurd number on a one-year deal, but it is extremely absurd on a multi-year deal. Good luck to whoever does that.

Sagulero suggests that the Rams will be interested. That is an easy conclusion to draw considering Jeff Fisher gave up a second round pick to draft him a few years ago.

Like I said, the number is absurd, but I won't be surprised at all if he ends up getting it.
