Coming out of South Carolina, Spurrier called Jared Cook "another Calvin Johnson", and always thought of him as a wide receiver. I'm disappointed our FO couldn't find an agreement with Cook's agent and get him on the field for us the next few years. I don't think we should have overpaid him, but it's going to be sickening if we have to watch him succeed elsewhere the next several years.
To make matters worse, remember what the Titans gave up. We traded our 2010 second round pick to New England for the opportunity to grab Cook late in the third round of 2009. Great value at the time, from a contract standpoint. But who knows who Titans could have picked up in 2010 with that pick (47th overall). FO should have had a plan in place this offseason other than the tag for Cook. My point is, this should be credited as a failure for the Titans FO. The first and second round draft misses are adding up, and Cook should be considered a second round bust if they are letting him walk.
