Titans Meet With Free Agent WRs, OL

Doug Pensinger

Familiar names grace BSP, but are either the answer?

The Titans are hosting a few lower level free agent wide receivers, but they're names Titans fans know well: former Texan Kevin Walter and former Colt/Bronco/Long-Lost-Manning-Cousin Brandon Stokley. Either guy would likely be brought in to shore up the slot WR positions and offer some insurance against Britt's discipline issues and the general propensity for Hawkins and Williams to disappoint during the regular season.

Walters is 31, and Stokley is a spry 36, so neither guy will get more than a one-year deal for minimal money. There's also every chance in the world neither would last through training camp, but you could do a whole lot worse than brining in two seasoned veterans to change the dynamic in the WR room through the preseason.

Also via Wyatt, the Titans also brought in veteran Seahawks and Bears G/C Chris Spencer. He's the latest in a line of versatile interior linemen Munchak and Campbell have brough in as they continue to overhaul that group. Spencer was a first round pick back in 2005 for the Seahawks, and played the last two seasons in Chicago. Spencer has played well over his career, even if it hasn't quite been up to his elite draft position, but struggled with knee injuries last season.
