positives, negatives, & of course concerns

I have long taken an interest in how to build sustainable goodness in sports.

Frankly the recipe if you dont draft a franchise QB or Lebron James is kind of simple...

Start with a blank slate...(us 2 years ago)

Draft, develop, cultivate talent....

Fill in the gaps, (can be both locker room and field issues) with free agents.

Get to a point, and draft BPA. Way you can keep replenishing picks, and whatnot for years to come.

The Titans have spent 2 years doing this, and I am here to tell you that these next 16 games will be crucial. Our FO expedited the process by buying some nice talent on the FA market. While this means the team will be better, it also means that the pieces are in place and the trajectory needs to be up. Jake and Kenny in particular. Jake does not have to set the world on fire, but we need to feel an awful lot better about him being our 2014 starter than we do our 2013 starter. Otherwise, the whole thing could go to shit.

The other elephant in the room is our coaching staff. Will our coaching staff be able to design innovative enough game plans & systems to beat other teams. I think our staff is a great staff for the rebuilding process, great careers as players, true pros, but being all that, and then being a winning football coach are often 2 different things.

I am as elated as anyone about the pickups. I have not been quick to scream fire Munch or draft a QB, but with power and talent comes responsibility. One of the best pieces of news that we are getting is that we are about to find out whether or not we have a QB and or a coaching staff.
