Cook has a high ceiling, but in classic Jeff Fisher fashion, he got overpaid.
Somebody tweeted earlier today that this is the time of the year where every fan thinks his team made good moves and every other team overpaid for their guys. There is some truth to that, but I think it would be hard to find anyone that thinks the St. Louis Rams didn't overpay for Jared Cook. Here are the details of Cook's contract via Jim Wyatt:
Jared Cook's deal with the #Rams: 5 yrs, $35.1 million, and $19 million guaranteed. That's 54% guaranteed and avg per year is $7.02 million

That makes Cook the 6th highest paid tight end in the league. Yes, the same Jared Cook who has 8 career touchdowns. 8!
There is no one here that will deny Cook has the ability to be mentioned among the best tight ends in the league, but I sure am glad the Titans didn't pay him like one when he hasn't proven anything but inconsistency.
Delanie Walker doesn't have the ceiling, but I will take him at around $4 million a year over Cook at over $7 million a year every day of the week.
